17 years old miracle heptathlete Alina Shukh scored 6099 points in the senior (!) heptathlon at the national championship becoming #1 in the u20 world list & moving Morgan Lake from the top. Unfortunately she wasn't motivated by the Olympics because throwing & combined events have an age restriction there. However she's thinking about going to Amsterdam to take part in high jump & getting that Olympic standard. Except 1.92 in high jump yesterday she's got 6.15 in long jump and threw her javelin at 51.52. 2:17 (800 m) is also a good result. Back to the oldest guy. Oleksandr Dryhol said that Israeli federation simply forgot to include him in their team officially So his Olympic standard of 77.70 m is Ukrainian. However it's still not known what he decides and if he appears in Rio at all.

No new standards on the 3rd day of our NCH but sensational-wtf-results keep goin'. Another national record (U18) in high jump. 17 years old heptathlete (!) Alina Shuh cleared 1.92 in high jump from the 1st attempt and refused from jumping 1.95. 17 years old. Heptathlete. 1.92. With a little margin. She could have achieved the Olympic standard in high jump... and get that 3rd place in our Olympic high jump team 18 yo Levchenko set her new PB of 1.95 in the evening & next morning even younger girl cleared 1.92. ps. Wondering if she's going to Amsterdam btw. ps2. On a side note, happy that 3 paralympic athletes competed in the same events with everyone. They didn't show fantastic results comparing to our elite athletes but this was incredible (for our athletics) on its own.

Today was the best Ukrainian national championship ever for me, the most intense in my life. 3 athletes jumped past 8 m in men's long jump. Serhiy Nykyforov 8.18 (wind assisted +2.2 m/s, 8.11 is legit), 8.11 for Taras Neledva (wind assisted) and 8.05 for Viktor Kuznetsov. Women's 400 m Olha Bibik - 51.69 Yuliya Olishevska - 51.70 Tetiana Melnyk - 51.92 Women's High Jump Yulia Levchenko - 1.95 (U23 NR from the 1st attempt, she's 18 years old ) Oksana Okuneva improved her standard to 1.97 Georgian athlete Valentina Lyashenko almost cleared 1.93 ... she missed it just by a little. Women's Long Jump Maryna Bekh - 6.93 (not something unexpected though, she was close to the standard pretty often and FINALLY... + attempts on 6.88 & 6.80) Oxana Zubkovska - 6.70 Anna Kornuta - 6.70 Kornuta lost her guaranteed spot in the Olympic team by the number of better attempts. Very dramatic! Anna Lunyova jumped 6.63. Hryshytyna (she's got a standard already) jumped 6.62 so the battle for the 3rd place between them is not over until the end of July. 7 new standards during the 2nd day. Crazy results. I hope the next 2 days will be as exciting as today. ps. Nataliya Pohrebniak (100 m) became the winner with 11.11 with -2.2 m/s headwind.

Oleksandr Dryhol chose Israel + he's not in the NCH start list so it's 100% that he won't represent Ukraine. I have no info whether he's on "quarantine". But our federations are on good terms so he can appear in Israeli team at the Olympics As for events where more than 3 athletes have got the Olympic standard only gold and silver guarantee a place in the Olympic team. The rest 2 athletes (or more) will be judged by the trainers council. Our NCH is open for everyone so we will see many athletes (from the other countries) who are close to achieving the standard. If Levchenko gains the standard in high jump there will be 4 Ukrainian competitors and none of them can feel safe, because everybody has a real chances to clear 1.93 and higher. + esp gonna cheer for the guest high jumpers: Valentina Lyashenko and Kumari Sahana. Go, girls! Except Georgia & India, there're Uzbekistan, Belarus, Turkey, Venezuela, Israel & Moldova. Including Belarusian Olympic (2004) champion in 100m.

Men's Hammer Throw Oleksandr Drygol - 77.57 He's a coach of Dorozhon so probably that's why he mentioned Israel. As far as I know he's still assigned to our federation. He trains here. IAAF profile says Ukraine, as well as latets protocols. UAF didn't allow any athlete to migrate to other federations without quarantine etc. Maybe I'm wrong & he changed citizenship or he mentioned Israel because it was funded by them. Anyway that would be interesting which country he chooses (personally I don't mind any outcome ). ps. He's 50 years old btw Yes, you read it right. 50.

We found out about Samra on March 10, 1 week before the deadline. Everyone expects another Swedish production from Azerbaijan and then you surprise everyone with a quality native song.

Holy shiii! Artem Tyshchenko (World Cup/IBU) & Snezhana Tiseyeva (IBU) got in a car accident. Artem got a concussion. Snezhana has multiply head injuries & burns on her face Their car was completely destroyed by fire. ps. "The (national) federation controls the situation & will cover all expenses".

She was the 1st name I thought of for a good comparison. However she flopped Hochfilzen & Pokljuka. Individual race in Ruhpolding was a success imo (just 3 misses) and quite good relay. Floppy Antholz (not being adjusted to the height probably). She was gr8 in America but almost everyone was preparing for the WCH thus they had to be in the functional "pit". Her lack of experience came to logical conclusion at the WCH & the last leg in Khanty. Denise can shine in a few races like Aymonier but she has yet to learn how to "survive" through the whole season. It will take 2 years minimum imo, it's a huge risk if she wants to start in Pyeongchang. Beijing would be more possible. She can become like Bondar & learn how to shoot 0's (while sacrificing speed) or struggle in all races with 4 shooting bouts. Wondering if she had ever practiced biathlon basics before. In Bundeswehr maybe?

Even for professional skiers it takes years to learn how to shoot decently (for the World Cup). Considering high level of the German team, imho she will become the IBU Cup star in the best scenario.
