  1. This is a joke. Payton was the one who clearly false started.
  2. 17 years old Nick Griggs just ran a 3:56 mile indoors It's a Euro U20 record. He also won European U20 gold last year over 3000m at the age of 16. Crazy to think we could finally have another potential track star from Ireland after so many years. https://twitter.com/Cathal_Dennehy/status/1502042251861676037?s=20&t=5RiUnMwLMLzblFj3jSGusAhttps://twitter.com/Cathal_Dennehy/status/1502042251861676037?s=20&t=5RiUnMwLMLzblFj3jSGusA

  4. From a personal point of view, I do lose some of the excitement also when the contest becomes more drawn out. And I think it’s just natural, you are more fatigued when it comes to the final. So I would be one of those members whose momentum is lost even though I wouldn’t miss a deadline. The basic structure we voted for in the past to counter this fatigue was to have a streamlined 2 weeks for registration / song selection; 2 weeks for voting; 2 weeks for the host to prepare the show. And that’s not a strict structure, but a good guidance. Many times the host may need longer to prepare and I am always fine with that. I would rather give more time to allow them to prepare the voting templates and the final. So if we are going to add more time on to have a registration period and a selection period then we are looking at a very long event and from our collective experience I think it is more draining on everyone. Some times like in this occasion, the selection period is extended for understandable reasons and I think we are generally ok with that. I don’t know, I can’t speak for everyone though so would be happy to hear from anyone who wants to share their own views.
  5. There used to be a case where we had registration period for a couple of weeks before the entry window opened (which still allowed registrations of course) but users clearly voted against that previously as we felt that momentum was being lost and that a long drawn out registration and selection period was resulting in more withdrawals as some users lost interest or other things took over their lives. I think the balance has been better since then and we have certainly had fewer withdrawals since that has been more streamlined. I think there’s no need to over-complicate things. I do want to offer some protection to jury members from multi-member juries as currently a user from their nation could randomly show up in the first days and choose the song with no debate with their fellow jury members. And I don’t want to create too many rules or deadlines either. We need some balance. As usual it’s not always easy to find a 100% perfect solution but I definitely see some problem in the current set up.
  6. I haven't decided on the final wording yet but it could be along these lines:
  7. It's a fair point, and in honesty I should have had something like that in the rule book long ago. Sorry to hear about your issue @vinipereira, all I can say is that I will correct this issue starting from now and I am sorry that this happened
  8. To us Irish, Eastern Europe begins in the Irish Sea
  9. Maybe you can set up a quick poll @Vektor in the TISC discussion thread to see what the feelings are. I am happy to follow your lead on this one since you are the host
  10. I have just finished updating the thread . I will have a look over it again in the coming days to see if I missed anything.
  11. TISC Annual 2022 - Hungary Here We Come! It is my great pleasure to formally announce Hungary as the host of TISC Annual 2022! . Congratulations @Vektor on your successful bid. It is going to be an exciting first trip to Hungary for the Totallympics International Song Contest for what will no doubt be a musical and cultural feast. Thank you for taking up the mantle of TISC host and best of luck with the organisation, we are all behind you
  12. "Expect" and "medal" are very strong words.... let's replace those with "hope" and "fun" and there we have Ireland's Winter Olympic prospects

  15. I was going to suggest that we can open the thread on the day of the Closing Ceremony (right after sounds good) to try to gently herd people from the Winter Olympics over to TISC . We could open the voting window on March 13 then if necessary. It’s only 3 weeks after the thread opening which is fine. All will depend on the host however and which time period suits them. For example, if they can’t host until late April then the schedule would need to move accordingly.
  16. TISC Annual 2022 - Hosting Rights We are open for bids!!! I am pleased to announce that the hosting rights for the 18th edition of the Totallympics International Song Contest (TISC Annual 2022) is now open for bidding. 2021 TISC Annual winners, Canada, and runners-up Sweden have both declined their right to host the upcoming edition. As the 3rd-placed nation, Ireland was next in line to receive the hosting rights. Official confirmation from the Irish delegation states that they prefer to open up the bidding to the wider public, so that all those interested can have their chance to stage the contest. However, the Irish delegation also committed to step in to fill the position if in fact there are no bids forthcoming (which we very much hope will not be the case ). All interested parties who would like to host the upcoming edition of TISC are hereby invited to state their interest on this thread by no later than Monday, 24th January. If more than one bid is received, a draw to decide the host will be conducted as per usual TISC rules. Let the bidding commence!! Bid Candidates: Hungary
  17. I got my booster today, I can take his spot in the draw
  18. Now that the 2021 TISC season has come to and end I thought I would share a little update on how the 2021 entries shaped the overall TISC All-Time Top 40. The Top 40 list is based on points-per-jury (PPJ) averages and is an elite ranking of the songs that scored big amongst our interntional juries. I am happy to report that all 6 medal winning entries from both contests this year made it into the Overall Top 40. However, it was the 2021 Open Contest medalists who made the biggest impact on the Overall Top 40 with Czech Republic's Lenny making it all the way up to number 12 in the chart. See details below: TISC Annual Top 40: New entries in the TISC Annual Top 40: # 9 The Weeknd - Blinding Lights (4.78 PPJ) # 11 Molly Sandén - Husavik (4.69 PPJ) # 15 Dermot Kennedy - Giants (4.44 PPJ) No other entries from TISC Annual 2021 made it on the All-Time TISC Annual Top 40 chart. TISC Open Top 40: New entries in the TISC Open Top 40: # 8 Lenny - Hell.o (5.50 PPJ) # 16 Gin Wigmore - Written In The Water (5.06 PPJ) # 18 Avicii - Wake Me Up (4.92 PPJ) # 27 The Rumour Said Fire - The Balcony (4.33 PPJ) # 38 Lenny - Claudio Capéo - Un Homme Debout (3.69 PPJ) TISC Overall Top 40: New entries in the TISC Overall Top 40: # 12 Lenny - Hell.o (5.50 PPJ) # 23 Gin Wigmore - Written In The Water (5.06 PPJ) # 25 Avicii - Wake Me Up (4.92 PPJ) # 30 The Weeknd - Blinding Lights (4.78 PPJ) # 33 Molly Sandén - Husavik (4.69 PPJ) # 40 Dermot Kennedy - Giants (4.44 PPJ) Only 5 non-medal winning entries appear in the Overall Top 40 with 2 champions and 16 former medalists now finding themselves outside the Top 40 chart! The TISC Annual Top 40 chart will be played in the TISC Annual 2022 thread in the days preceding the live show and a similar airing of the TISC Open Top 40 chart is planned for the TISC Open 2022 later in the year. Then as part of the 20th edition celebrations in 2023 a special Hot 100 Chart will be compiled showcasing the overall Top 100 of all time.
  19. Happy New Year to all of my fellow Totallympians. Hoping 2022 will be a bright one for you, full of happy moments and peace in your lives
  20. Great logic by both @hckošice and @Olympian1010 . Sorry I didn't take the chance, just didn't want to drop all my points. Thanks to @Quasit for a very fun evening and for helping to broaden my knowledge
  21. I would have gone with Idaho if pushed. Montana was my gut instinct but I believe Idaho sounds like a good answer based on both pieces of advice now
