Haven’t done an update on my dad since mid July, so thought I’d share.
He ended up getting out of the hospital a couple days before the Olympics, and has generally been getting better the past couple of months.
Unfortunately, the past couple of days he’s been really sick, and was vomiting for much of yesterday. He was taken to the hospital last night, and is expected to be there for at least a couple of days.
Just sucks to see him struggling this much, hoping for as speedy of a recovery as possible

And yet we are the bad guys. This war ends as soon as hostages are released and hammas comes out with their arms raised.

One year and still 101 hostages with a terror organisation denying them medical treatment and supplies them with moulded food, a war in Gaza that could end by releasing the hostages and yet total refusal to release them all

1 year anniversary to the horrors of October 7th. The terrorists are getting everything coming to them after that day

Just for the record, it's not the first totallympics meeting. I met mrv86 (mexican user) in Buenos Aires 10 years ago while he was traveling around South America with a friend of his.
I guess it's the 1st meeting with 3 or more users though.

מה המצב?
i agree with your assessment, all the medals are amazing! but outside of them not too many achievements, it's a bit disappointing that Kantor or Dolgopyat didn't win gold, but at least they won something, other judokas lost pretty easily and i was hoping at least more then 1 can get to the quarters, Samberg wasn't at her best, Also Salpeter was leading but this course was just too tough for her. The soccer team could've been better, just one win against mali and things could've looked differently.
But, 7 medals, after the current situation in the country, is incredible, and hopefully i can see some medals here live in 2028. Want to mention Peter Paltchik who had threats on his life leading up to the opening ceremony and went out there and shoved it in the face of the haters!

Lol Jeanee Crane-Mauzy‘s explanation of what her ties to the country are is genuinely hilarious. She says she wants to compete for Vanuatu to raise awareness for climate change.

1. 10! 10! 10! Across the board! They were Fantastic, Unbelievable
2. The medals were a surprise, I was hoping for Olympic Diploma, but Adriana and Jean Pierre excelled. Heartbroken for Kevin Cordón in Badminton, it was his last Olympic Games, 5 times.
3. Goal Surpassed
4. None, it will be the same until they fix the NOC
5. Luis Grijalva, he trains and lives in the US, has been 4th place at Diamond League in 5,000m so let's hope.

I think one solution to the eSports dilemma is to have this eSports Olympics which was launched (at least it was written here) recently like one week after the Olympics concludes. Therefore it can have media exposure related to the Games but still kept separate.
It could be held in a repurposed Olympics venue (but it has to have air conditioning, hahahaha 😂 😄)

This entire conversation is just proving that those constant changes in every edition is more troubling than helping I mean there are young athletes out there training to get to the Olympics only to learn after each edition that there sport might be out, I hope the next president will care enough to make a program for the long run

They need to announce all the venues already and release a calendar ! I need to plan out the day!

Oh wow, that is actually quite ridiculous. You seriously can't do that to athletes, not even knowing yet what they can or can not qualify for two years before the Olympics
Trust me, the stress of qualifying alone is more than enough to drive an athlete and their surroundings mad, let alone if you don't even know the exact events yet..

Since the next Olympics are in 2028, and of course by now the program is entirely finalized I assume (since athletes start their new Olympic cycle immediately): is there a clear list of events that were in Paris and won't be in LA, and events that weren't in Paris and will be in LA?

Forget to mention this Fun Fact
Yesterday Danka Barteková was competing in W Skeet, made it to the final and finished 6th.
24 hours later she was already awarding medals in the Mixed Skeet today that´s what I call being super busy with double-duties
the only competing IOC member in Paris

Some things we need to keep in mind about Nemour's medal:
She's actually and European, not and African. So this doesn't really count as an medal.
And anyway, athletes aren't here, and they dominate the uneven bar, so this is actually a bronze medal, not a gold medal.
(None of the above is in any way serious, it's just my impression of what a certain user would say if Nemour represented any country other than )

That was seriously one outrageous final An epic conclusion to one of the most fun sports at every Olympics. Enjoyed it thoroughly this week. I second the opinion, that i wish i'm paying more attention to it, outside of the OG, but it gets completely lost between Olympic cycles..
I was a young man, when these old geezers Brady Ellison and Vincent Hancock were winning Olympic medals for team and we are in 2024 and they are still winning medals . Then i proceed to check their bio and see, that both of them are only 35 years How, why?
