  1. Swimming team announced tomorrow so we might get some clarity on Shane Ryan Victoria Catterson was involved in a press event today so she’s part of the relay team anyway
  2. Hayter won the European championships this year on count back in the final race. Even a single extra point for Larsen would have beaten him. He’s favourite, but no way is he a lock
  3. Will all change but for now here’s some stats on qualifying standards and world rankings. This is based on just the track and field events (no marathon or walks) and just individual events and desnt include universal or invite places Overall - 1,414 qualified - 842 (60%) standard - 572 (40%) Men - 62% standard - 38% rankings Women - 57% standard - 43% rankings Smallest % of men achieving OQS High Jump - 28% hammer - 31% Javelin - 34% Largest % of men achieving OQS 400m hurdles - 93% 800m - 89% 5km - 86% 400m - 85% Smallest % of women achieving OQS Javelin - 25% triple jump - 31% heptathlon - 38% highest % of women achieving OQS 100m hurdles - 83% 400m hurdles - 80% 800m - 80% EDIT - this is based on the road to Paris site. Obviously only includes 3 per nation
  4. Effectively, yes. They remove all those who refuse a quote (for whatever reason) and then work their way down the rankings. Those below the line have to indicate if they’re willing/able to accept it so there isn’t a third round of allocations.
  5. I would think it particularly disgraceful to see a home nation refuse quotas
  6. They’re allowed because they’re the last continental championship for the Bahamas
  7. I wouldn’t rule out Shawnee yet. She ran one race last week and that was enough to get her a score
  8. Yeah, Miller-Uibi makes it (with 2 scores from 2022 in it bizarrely) Femke out will mean Klaver as only Dutch as their 3rd is De Witte (behind Sophie) Van den Brocke (BEL) could choose 400m hurdles
  9. In rowing, the women’s lightweight double are my lock of all locks. Can’t see any way they’re beaten outside of injury will add more later but they’re the first that came to mind
  10. Her coach. They believe there’s a mix of athletes who got the standard earlier and will be unavailable, athletes from countries who won’t accept them, and athletes who choose to enter other events (1,500m or 10,000m) We’ll see
  11. Jodie McCann of Ireland is 5 places off the standard but her coach told journalists that they’re confident they’ll get in as they expect “8-10” to not take their quota For now adds 5 through the rankings
  12. Add 5 for athletics Nicola Tuthill - hammer Kate O’Connor - heptathlon Cathal Doyle - 1,500m Luke McCann - 1,500m Eric Favors - shot out Sophie Becker (3) and Tom Barr (2) hoping for pull outs. Jodie McCanne has 5 ahead of her in the 5,000m too
  13. If it helps anyone’s internal calculation will not be taking quotas (earned by entry standard) in the women’s 200m and the women’s 800m (Athletes will concentrate on one event only)
  14. Not that I agree with their policies, but I think it’s more a case of federations wanting to focus all their resources (coaches, training camps, masseuses, back up admin staff etc etc) on those with chances of medals and finals than spreading them out to athletes without any hope of progression There’s obviously a dollar/euro/pound cost involved, but the countries who set extra barriers to Olympic qualification are generally quite wealthy so I don’t think that’s the overriding issue (even if they claim it is)
  15. They’ve only included the times. They update the rankings on Wednesday and Brand of Switzerland earned enough points to overtake Tom. That’ll be confirmed on Wednesday
  16. The Swiss guy overtook Barr too so she’s out, unless there’s pull outs. Becker still on the bubble Tuthill and Favor OK
  17. Have you results of women’s 400m as huge potential for improvement there
  18. Tuthill is safe. Barr didn’t improve at all and is on the bubble Becker improves her score but not her position and 4/5 below her could massively improve their score this weekend. I think she’ll miss out
  19. I think the most important point you make is that in every weight category there are several boxers who are better than some of the seeds. Everyone will still need a little luck with their draw
  20. This is my understanding of it (and was how it worked in Tokyo fwiw)
  21. Some could have 3 if you include indoor national championships…
  22. The medals are between 4/5 athletes and Rhasidat is one of them. and maybe the challengers
  23. Some pacific number one seeds in there. lol
  24. Something that’s slightly annoying is some sports have informed the teams, but not anyone else. eg confirming their re-allocated diving spot without any word from World Aquatics
