  1. A large chunk of that extra time didn’t have any competition (times gained in a period of nearly 8 months weren’t counted) and it’s only at long distances really. The marathon is way over subscribed It’s the shoes
  2. No Arthur Lannigan O’Keefe. He explains why on his Instagram. He’s in recovery mode https://www.instagram.com/p/CP8OrOrn6bX/?utm_medium=copy_link
  3. They didn't expect any of the events to be filled solely by times but then the new shoes came along and...
  4. She doesn't have one. He just meant that the issue must be serious because she wouldn't give up the Olympics over something small
  5. She beat a former world silver medalist (ex Brazil, now Portugal) but not the 2 seed. Not sure where I got that from! Has since lost in the QF to Dutch girl (who world number 5) and beaten another world top 10 (Brazil) to leave her with a fight for a medal now
  6. There's some bugs in there I think as, for example, they have 4 women from Germany qualified through time in the 100m (as 2 of them have the same time, I think)
  7. If we get shooting and diving, we'll have 16 sports with Irish participation. 14 was the max before this. Taekwondo is the only new sport
  8. Some events are already over the quota anyway and won't use the rankings at all. (Women's 5k, men's 10k). I think women's triple jump will end up that way too
  9. Two wins has Megan Fletcher into the quarter finals of the world championship and she's guaranteed to be in a qualifying spot now. Mark one down for Judo!
  10. I don’t think so (based solely on a pic that Natalya put up on insta) Sive Brassil is there though
  11. Now predicting 5 for Ireland Gold for O’Donovan/McCarthy in lightweight double sculls in rowing medals for Puspure in rowing, McClenaghan in gymnastics and Harrington in boxing Then 1 from good chances in rowing, boxing or equestrian Outside chances in hockey (if they 0-0 their way to a medal again), taekwondo, athletics (Barr), golf, cycling
  12. Big day in Judo tomorrow. Hopefully Megan Fletcher gets a win. Her second fight is scheduled to be against the number 2 seed
  13. All qualifying is officially finished so I expect them to confirm the final allocations soon
  14. That’s exactly what happened. The North Korea gymnast has been crossed for months with Megan in instead
  15. And the good part is that if Megan is injured, Emma Slevin is next in line!
  16. I miscounted! He was 7th and 6 made it from the rankings. I thought he was 6th and 5 made it! Apologies!
  17. I thought so too but others in the athletics thread say 4
  18. Barr won't run the 4x400m relay as it clashes with the 400m hurdles so you can add one to the Athletics team. If Healy qualifies individually then it will be Healy + 3 but as of now, it's 4 Officially Dickson & Waddilove haven't been chosen yet in sailing. Either have the rowers apart from O'Donovan and McCarthy but that's just paperwork at this stage it seems! And a small one but Wooley was 6th in the Olympic rankings. I think we'll break 100 BTW...
  19. With her win today, Kellie Harrington becomes number one seed at 60kg. Oj Jeon yi from is 2nd seed. The world champion Beatriz Ferreira from will be number 3 seed because there was no Americas' qualifier
  20. For Carolyn Hayes was in the ‘new flags’ positions until this weekend but she’s moved up in the rankings as is no longer travelling to Mexico Russell White is in the last qualifying spot so he’s travelling. It really does seem like the top 45 are all safe
  21. There might also be funding issues The GB team finishing top 6 might be worth to the federation than apparatus medals No information here, but it may be a reason
  22. Rankings are closed at the end of this tournament they’ll be announced shortly after
  23. Considering they’ve lost Joe Ward in 2019 and Michael Nevin this month(!), it’s an unreal performance
  24. Ha. Was in the middle of posting this. Yes, this is a new qualifying time for Michelle
