  1. Women's Eight quotas and surprisingly ( and miss out)
  2. Men's quad sculls quotas miss out by inches (and leave the men's quad as 100% European in Paris)
  3. Most of the Irish coaching team is Italian too (though not in the lightweights)
  4. Lightweight men's quotas Same as the women's LW Olympic medalist from is out
  5. Lightweight women's double quota The Olympic champions won't get the chance to repeat
  6. Sorry I misunderstood you. Yes, Hatton has withdrawn himself from Olympic consideration (along with Brooks Koepka)
  7. Reallocation positions are all listed in this PDF
  8. Bad example there for South Africa btw with their 3rd man being ranked 101st Indeed even GB’s 3rd man is ranked 68th The only players from inside the top 50 to miss out are from either the USA or Korea and 4 Americans already qualify. All in all, that’s a decent system
  9. Jumping may be more popular but as it has its own event, and the best jumpers are there, the jumping in eventing always seems a much lower standard Where as the cross country is its unique selling point
  10. They didn’t really have them to be fair. Different for women where the difference isn’t so pronounced but lightweight men has never been a focus for the big nations (with respect to Italy)
  11. I can’t believe I forgot cycling and tennis! Didn’t realise about the others
  12. I think it’s only theoretically possible in a handful of sports Archery - maybe the Korean women? Equestrian - very unlikely Golf - American men/women. Korean women? Athletics the one with most chances? Ethiopia did it in women’s 10,000m last year at world champs.
  13. The women's 800m and the men's mile look ridiculously strong
  14. Also, interestingly enough (to me), of the 6 nations with the highest number of boats qualified so far, none will have a lightweight men's double in Paris. Those top 6 could change with qualifiers here but currently they're Romania, Netherlands, Australia, GB, USA and New Zealand. Only the USA attempted to qualify in Lucerne
  15. Finalists by country 6 5 4 3 2 1 Countries without a quota so far still involved in finals (not inc re-allocated spots); Estonia, Portugal, Moldova, Slovenia, Sweden No nation will have the full quota of 14 boats and 46 rowers. The USA could have 13 if their 5 remaining crews here finish top 2
  16. Men’s single sculls final (listed in semi result order) the B final will see and fight for the re-allocated spot (see above for explanation on Slovenia!)
  17. Yes, completely fair. Do you know how they decide order of preference? Choice by Slovenia if they win both, or best result?
