  1. The number of qualified teams per nations so far.... 6 teams 5 teams 4 teams 3 teams 2 teams 1 team
  2. Germany defeated France, Russia qualified for Tokyo.
  3. Russia defeats Italy! Huge step for them for Tokyo. This also means that Hungary will be 2nd on the final ranking, ahead of Italy.
  4. Even after a long COVID break the men's sabre team event is predictable as always so far. Now France v Germany and Italy v Russia can decide the quota. Meanwhile the Hungarian girls "proved" that they deserved the quota over Ukraine by beating them for the 7th place. It would have been more clean if we actually beat them for the quota on a match deciding the European spot, but that rarely happens in this qualification system.
  5. I think we determine eligibility based on the singer/band's nationality and almost the entire song is performed by Molly Sandén, so I would say that it's a Swedish song with an American (Will Ferrell) singing a few lines. Edit: And also the acoustic version outside of the movie is performed by only Sandén.
  6. And I was a tiny bit hoping for Husavik from Sweden or the US just for the pure mindfuck of having a fake Eurovision song in TISC.
  7. I thought that I should do this comparison between Tokyo and the previous Olympic team events. I will edit this post later today when Russia or France qualifies in Men's sabre. Returning Rio/London teams Gained quotas Lost quotas M Épée (3/8) W Épée (6/8) M Foil (8/8) W Foil (8/8) M Sabre (8/8) W Sabre (8/8)
  8. Told ya, different day. Especially in our case anything is possible. We can beat anyone, but we can also lose to anyone. Today we were very nervous, and I am guessing (I haven't watched the match) our girls weren't there mentally anymore against Japan now that they got the quota. Really messy day for us. The pressure was huge on Pusztai, she must have been really afraid of missing out on the Olympics.
  9. And while I am complaining about us not reaching the Top4, this is still historic. This is the first time ever that our women's sabre team qualified for the Olympics. And the "core" of our team, Márton (25) and Pusztai (19) are still young. Changes in women's sabre from Rio: Kept the quota: Gained the quota: Lost the quota:
  10. Also, kudos to Poland for beating Russia, that's a big upset. Women's sabre in Tokyo, with the Top5 likely fighting for the gold:
  11. This is still bad for us because we will have a really hard QF in Tokyo now that we aren't in the Top4, but at the very least we are in Tokyo.
  12. A magyar női kardcsapat kijutott az Olimpiára.
  13. Bad day for us, we looked really nervous, but we still got the quota thanks to Korea beating Ukraine. China also qualified.
  14. Thankfully Pusztai and Márton won the match in the final two periods, we are in the QFs.
  15. We are really struggling against Germany, this might be the end for us.
  16. I think Tunisia officially qualified for Tokyo 2020 in women's sabre. The biggest upset in the R32 is Georgia defeating China.
  17. Looking at the women's draw, TUN-EGY and VEN-KAZ are the two most important matches in R32. If Tunisia loses and Venezuela wins, Africa will lose their quota and both Hungary and Ukraine will qualify. No offense to Tunisia, but that would probably be the best outcome for fencing. If Tunisia qualifies, Ukraine will need to reach the final to have a chance for the quota, we will qualify no matter what if they will fail. We will secure our quota if we get the bronze at the very least, even if Ukraine wins the event.
  18. Eh, it's sabre and it's women's sport. Who knows what will happen in the team event, nothing would surprise me. They can have an amazing day in the individual event and then flop in the team event the next day. I will celebrate when we will have the team quota.
  19. Poor Beverly Hills Cop, it's a shame that many think of Crazy Frog when they hear that sample instead of this classic theme.
  20. I mean, the difference is that Eastern Europeans still have their own unique language and they stay in their own nation's music industry most of the time. The US music industry is so huge that it "absorbs" all the Canadian talent who become famous.
  21. Anyway, let's just hope that The Weeknd won't attack the poor cameraman again.
  22. I legit completely forgot that The Weeknd is Canadian. Poor Canadians, unless they have a French name, I immediately assume that they are from the US.
  23. We are missing from the previous contest, but we still have many days until the deadline, so I am sure some of them will turn up in time. Also... @rybak I think you forgot to add the Romanian song to the "Participating Nations" table.
  24. Me after seeing the new TISC thread: "Okay, let's look up the Hungarian YT chart again" #2 on the chart... I am pretty sure it won't be the Hungarian submission, unless I drink a lot of vodka on the day of the Hungarian announcement
