  1. Didn't think Afghanistan had it in them. Chinese Taipei is arguably the second weakest entrant (maybe Singapore), but I thought Afghanistan would be clearly weaker than everyone.
  2. Looks like my Myanmar and Nepal prediction fell through, instead it's Tajikistan with a surprise first place finish. Sri Lanka and Bhutan are up there along with the five favourites. On the women's side, Bangladesh is the fifth seed, but will likely have to defeat at least one of India (currently suspended), Iran or Kazakhstan to qualify.
  3. Yeah, ten Asian nations have already qualified. In terms of tripartite nations I would say and have better chances, but it would be nice to see them qualify in their national sport. The favourites seem to be three of but in archery anything could happen, the three previously mentioned tripartite nations plus could pull off the upset.
  4. Sorry, for some reason I thought Kalai was Egyptian... Her only hope would be if Tunisia exchanges quotas.
  5. It's not in their selection policy (to be fair nothing related to football is written on their website) In 2016, there were no additional performance based requirements in football.
  6. No, an athlete qualifies their nation on the first event in which they qualify a quota. Charni can still however, compete in the 10m air pistol as a double starter. Only way for Kalai to compete will either be through the 10m air pistol (assuming she has the MQS) or for Egypt to transfer a quota from another event
  7. Yeah, the rapid fire pistol was one of the events that had no African athletes with MQS
  8. They are still the big favourite, over the past four Asia Sevens Series the only non-Japanese team they lost to was to South Korea in 2017 during the second leg. The nature of the sport and the fact the chasing pack isn't that much weaker means this isn't a near-lock, but Hong Kong would win more often than not.
  9. They finished 9th, but a few stronger nations didn't attend (Philippines, Singapore). At the 2019 Asia Rugby Series they competed in the second division and finished seventh (top division has eight teams).
  10. Hong Kong will be the favourites to qualify, though other nations (China, Sri Lanka and South Korea) all have a chance for an upset. Interesting to see Afghanistan competing. A bunch of teams ahead of them withdrew, but I guess they didn't want an 8-team tournament like they had for the women.
  11. Looks like the men's 10m air pistol schedule has been changed to tomorrow. got the women's 25m pistol quota
  12. Why is the junior world record higher than the world record? Different gun? Quickly looking at the Asian Championships and the Asian record is 252.8 yet the above world record is also shown. Both were set at World Cup events (though the Asian one was done in 2019).
  13. Is there a delay in results for the 10m air rifle and women's 25m or is the schedule messed up?
  14. Besides the United States, I imagine the Dominican Republic and Venezuela would be hurt the most while Cuba and Nicaragua would be hurt the least. As much as I would love to see a Nicaragua surprise, it'll be unlikely.
  15. Yeah, there's easily enough quality for a 12 team tournament. One or both of Australia and Chinese Taipei will miss out, while they don't have a chance of winning Italy and the Netherlands have enough quality to be competitive and then you can throw half a dozen or so more Pan American nations into the mix. Sadly, I feel the United States will miss out, without MLB players at their next qualifiers the gap between them and the rest of the continent is a lot smaller.
  16. BIG UPDATE I've updated the sports in which nations can qualify in, including remove some which they are no longer possible to qualify in. I've also took into account tripartite invitations. While the invitations can sometimes be a bit random, I tried my best to see which active nations have a chance at getting one. Fun Facts: - 12/70 remaining nations only have chances in athletics or athletics+swimming. - Senegal has the most sports where it has a chance at qualifying in with 11. Behind them are Cameroon, Jordan and Montenegro with 9 each. - 60/70 remaining nations are eligible to obtain a tripartite invitation. The 10 that aren't includes... Without tripartite invitations the nations that will struggle to qualify many athletes are Bolivia and Republic of Congo as they only have chances in three sports each
  17. I'm not so sure about that, especially with some of them playing in the NBA play-offs, but the fact we're hosting means our federation will be pushing hard for them to play.
  18. Depends who decides to show up. The other explanation is that we're just not good enough.
  19. At least this means Canada avoids some of the stronger European teams. We could still be put up against Greece
  20. I do, but I forgot about it when writing the above message
  21. I always felt that a 20-0 for a forfeit was too little. Teams could try to take advantage of it...
  22. Not the greatest championships for South Korea in terms of Olympic events
  23. That's bad... I wonder what PASO will do for the team event. If they only eliminate her results, Canada still finishes fourth, but if they disqualify the entire team then Argentina would get the quota. While the former may seem fair on paper, it could be argued that her insight on the course may have helped the team and thus the entire team should be disqualified.
  24. Yeah, one of the main reasons why weightlifting is still on the program is the great lengths they are going to fight doping
  25. The NOC can still decline the quota. Their lack of selection policy gives me hope. At the very least the athlete can argue it.
