  1. Zoe Steyn has just been eliminated... All the hopes now in Sarah Baum, or there will be an extra quota on women's event.
  2. She really enjoys surfing, and for what I could see, she has some skills for that. But, at her young age and without participations on events, she cannot even be considered for team. Maybe for LA, she might try compete in two sports. Especially because surfing will take place a bit far from skateboarding venue for this edition
  3. Adding to it Oceania - will take the quota, just need to know who between Billy and Kehu. Africa - Teva is the last african surfer eligible. He has only one mission: advance on repechage round 6, or finish on third position, and he will take this quota Asia - or in contender for it. This dispute is very interesting because all surfers need it. Waida and Igarashi will likely struggle for last quota at WSL, and that is a good opportunity for them. We might know the qualified here only after the last stages of WSL.
  4. Amazing result for . Despite the fact of two of its surfers were eliminated, all tree male surfers are eligible for a universality quota
  5. No more women heats today, so let's sum up it Africa - Sarah Baum and Zoe Steyn are the only eligible for quotas, they are in Repechage Round 4, and need at least advance to Repechage Round 6 to make top 30. Asia - Shino Matsuda is the only one in Main Round. In the Repechage Rounds, there are two other surfers, and one athlete from . Oceania - Paige Hareb is guaranteed on top 30. Saffi Vette is still alive, but if she doesn't advance, her compatriot will automatically take the quota Europe - (2x) athletes, while and have one each in Main Round. France also has a third surfer, but she is already qualified. In Repechage Round (3x), (2x), (1x). Bonvalot is competing here too, but she is already qualified.
  6. The olympian Yolanda Sequeira was eliminated from the event
  7. is out of Main Round for men. and still to compete on next heats
  8. is out of women's. So the quota of Africa either goes to or it'll be reallocated.
  9. End of the day. We didnt have the main round 4 for men. Lets sum up that Women Oceania - Paige Hareb advanced on competition, and keeps being the best from her country. Africa - Sarah Baum and Zoe Steyn advanced at repechage, they still have a long way till the quotas. South Africa still has a third athlete to compete, meanwhile had one surfer eliminated, and two to competing yet. Asia - Shino Matsuda is the last one at main round. She is some steps ahead of her rivals. Europe - is unstoppable. All surfers at main round, even Defay who is ineligible. is also competitive with two athletes. and have one athlete each. Men Europe - advance with two surfers. But Fioravanti likely will be ineligible. and are in contender with one athlete. Asia - has its full team qualified. And keeps bothering them with Rio Waida and I Ketut Agus. We might have direct dispute for the Asian quota. Africa - Teva keeps fighting for his spot, he is the only African at main round. Oceania - Billy Stairmand Is in the same situation of his compatriot, Paige. He is the favorite for this quota
  10. Candelaria Resano advanced for Main Round 4, and if my calculations are right, she is now eligible for an universality quota. Even if she loses all heats, she will finish at least on 46th position.
  11. So, Dylan Groen finished third on his heat, and Germany has all its surfers at repechage on men's side
  12. Yesterday we also had the end of Main Round 2 for women Europe - are yet on main round. Germany is the favorite up this moment, with full team. Africa - No athletes from this continent on main round, we might have a reallocation here. Oceania - Only Paige Hareb is here. She was, and still is the favorite for this quota Asia - advanced with its three surfers. No or , but surprisingly, we have a surfer there. Candelaria is also in a great position for a Universality Quota Today we are going to advance a lot at Main Rounds, with phase 3 and 4 for men, and 3 for women
  13. Main Round 2 is completed for men, and these are the closest countries to the quotas Europe - and the undedogs from and Italy is the one european country which advanced all surfers. Impressive not seeing Glatzer , Dillon and Ribeiro on this phase. Oceania - is the only country from this continent here, apart of ineligible . They have two surfers, and I believe they won't have troubles to confirm their quota with one of them. Africa - A huge surprise from Africa, with only one athelte from . And not even their best surfer. Imo, Teeva Bouchgua would be their third best surfer. Jordy Smith is also advancing but he will probably be ineligible. Asia - has its full team qualified, meanwhile their main opponent has only two. Anyway, it is gonna be interesting see who will take it. Especially because Igarashi and Waida are fighting for the last spot in WSL, right now. There is a chance that the second best asian surfer here, take the quota eventually. Also, good news for . If @JoshMartini007post about the Tripartite Invitation is right, they have a huge chance to be the first, and so far the only nation eligible for this invitation, in main round. They have two surfers among the best.
  14. @intoronto @Olympian1010 Do you know which athletes have already qualified to Panamerican Games, and how many will in this competiton? I am not too much into these qualifications, and now I am a little bit worried with our chances to get a second quota at women's dispute
  15. As for Chianca and Florence, I believe they are not caring for this event. Actually it doesn't matter for them, they are only fulfilling their requirements. But, some other upsets happened yesterday. We may have some underdogs getting their spots.
  16. End of the Main Round 1 for women, and we had surfers from and advancing on first place. It's a huge surprise. Let's see how far they can go. Btw, they are in the same heat at Main Round 2 PS: Yesterday, I didn't realize but a very good surfer didn't advance as well. It could be a big issue for him, thinking on the Panamerican qualification.
  17. @Adriano That's it! Basically, there are two paths: Main Round and Repechage Round. All the surfers start in the Main Round, and they need to keep winning on it. That means, finishing on 1st or 2nd places until the Final Round. If they "lose", finishing on 3rd or 4th places, they will be relegated to Repechage Rounds, were they have to surfer twice more than in the Main Round. There, they can't lose their heats anymore, otherwise they will be eliminated. It's like a double elimination, two losts and goodbye!
  18. First day of the event, and no big surprises. Apart of Mirna Boelsma and Zoe Steyn who didn't advance and are already in the repechage rounds. Great news for Sarah Baum who is by far the favorite for women's african quota. Highlight also to surfer, who won his heat!

  21. Men's World Ranking by Nations updated as of May 30th , 2023
  22. Oceania - would be the biggest favorite here, but they are ineligible for these quotas, once they won't have any troubles to get all quotas through WSL. They didn't even bring their best surfers, right now, to this competition. In this case, becomes the main country for both quotas. We may have a surprise with , but it'd be a real surprise, imo. Asia - and are the huge favorite here, I can't see any other country beating them here in normal conditions. Japan, for instance, is bringing its strongest team at women's side. and may have a small chance. Africa - is by far the huge favorite at both sides. However, they will likely take two quotas at WSL Ranking, on the men's side. It makes them ineligible for these quotas and opens a way for other Afican male surfers. Ramzi Boukhiam may be starving to get it, once he couldn't compete at this year WCT. also may be a surprise. Europe - Always the most difficult to predict. and are the main favorites here. It's quite hard to say who will be the qualifieds, because it depends on many factors.
  23. It's a huge chance for and to get a quota here. I believe El Salvador may take it at men's side, while the Nicaraguan sister are the favorites at women's side (For some reason, only Candelaria is competing for Nicaragua)
  24. Olympic Qualification and World Rankings updated as of May 29th, 2023
  25. Thanks for noticing that. It was a mistake I added these green marks only to reach the visualization until the last qualified athlete (Usually the African one, who isn't close to the top) But, it actually doesn't make sense with that legend. I've just fixed it.
