  1. The level of riding is definitively much higher in the second run than the first run so far.
  2. The NBC stream was too busy running a fluff piece to show the number one run from Rukajarvi. Lame.
  3. Similar problem they had in Sochi and Pyeongchang - the course is too difficult for the women (this is a more difficult course than usual). I really don't think it can get worse than the complete farce that the Pyeongchang final was (that final was completely ruined by wind).
  4. Laurie Blouin is looking in medal winning form. She got a reasonably good qualifying run 1 score (should get her in the finals no problem) despite a few visible mistakes.
  5. Huge news from the Scotties: has beaten ! is now guaranteed at least third (they are in the 1-2 Page playoff game). Team Crawford is from my hometown, I’ve been to the curling club they curl out of.
  6. Mélodie Daoust is now listed as day to day and is expected to be back before the end of the tournament.
  7. Is that official? Because Turin had both freestyle skiing and ski jumping under the lights. I am pretty sure the last Winter Olympics with no snow events under the lights was Salt Lake City.
  8. I really don't see what is "terrible" with any of this.
  9. Have they lit the cauldron yet? I thought the music choice for the parade of nation was odd but I did enjoy the whole parade of nation. I thought the opening was good but everything after the parade of nations was pretty meh.
  10. Same thing happens in the US every year at the Super Bowl - seats for "real" fans are extremely limited because of all the VIPs, which leads to relatively dead crowd compared to regular season NFL games. And that's not because Americans don't care about the Super Bowl...
  11. Men's moguls is obviously the highlight of the day from a Canadian perspective, and Q1 went really well for Canada. Kingsbury qualified first by a comfortable margin while Ikuma Horishima, the only skier who can really beat Kingsbury without relying on Kingsbury making a mistake, had a big struggle in Q1.
  12. Charles Hamelin is not competing on day 1 at all - he wasn't chosen for the mixed relay either. The pool for that event is Courtney Sarault, Florence Brunelle, Kim Boutin, Steven Dubois, Jordan Pierre-Gilles and Pascal Dion. Also, on a related note, best medal chance for is today :P Especially surprising since he cited the 1000m as a big motivation for continuing until 2022.
  13. Frankly they were perhaps a little generous towards ROC.
  14. Really did not expect the being ahead of in the rhythm dance. I still think ROC is the big, big favourite but there isn't as much margin for error as I expected.
  15. What a skate by Uno. It's a real shame Japan doesn't have a competitive ice dance team, because they could contend for gold in the team event if they did.
  16. That's awesome! Glad there will be some Totallympic representation. Enjoy it
  17. Dumais is injured (has a hernia) so I think just making it to final 1 would be a big accomplishment.
  18. Brianna Decker is out for the remainder of the Olympics due to the injury she sustained against . The US (foolishly tbh) didn't bring a taxi squad, but they are looking at options for replacing Decker.
  19. She apparently has a spinal cord injury, but there is no risk of paralysis. She has withdrawn from both slopestyle and big air and will return to Japan once it is safe for her to do so.
  20. About injuries - Canada has a four person taxi squad on site, the US have... nobody. For inexplicable reasons.
