  1. I may be wrong but I believe the four athletes who will advance from women’s round 5 are guaranteed a top 6 and an Olympic quota.
  2. Qualification situation for the women: Round 5 (guaranteed top 12): x2 (If she qualifies here the Pan-am quota goes to ) Repêchage round 7 (guaranteed top 16): (If she qualifies quota goes to ) x2 (cannot qualify) (only one French athlete can qualify) (cannot qualify) Not sure who the Asian quota goes to if Japan qualifies two quotas here.
  3. Gilmore is one of the best surfer to watch. As a neutral I would love to see her win in Tokyo.
  4. Bethany Zelasko narrowly stays alive with a last minute attempt. Got to feel bad for Carolina Mendes who lost out after the buzzer to both Zelasko and the already qualified Stephanie Gilmore’s amazing final wave.
  5. There is a competitor names "Lancelot Proton de la Chapelle" O.o
  6. Ya, watched a repechage heat that I thought was part of the main round.
  7. and are the only two unqualified countries left in the men’s main round, though also has two surfers in the main round that could override their continental quota (which would give a quota).
  8. I’ll be attending the final two days of the US championships this week-end. Very excited to get the chance to see Simone Biles compete in person.
  9. Really easy to manipulate the ten-must system…
  10. Well I wasn't expecting this Canadian team to make the semis...
  11. Nice to see w aren't the only ones confused about this.
  12. Slopestyle athletes and big air athletes qualify from a combined ranking list - you either qualify for both events or neither.
  13. It doesn't include China. I think 7-9 teams is realistically what we could have expected anyway. Teams who are currently in position to qualify for team aerials are . The big missing piece other than China is Australia since they currently have no elite male jumper. Canada currently has four athletes in qualifying position in all freestyle events, so as usual internal qualification will be brutal. Luckily the max number of athletes per country is 32 (up from 30 in 2018) so we are only looking at giving up eight quotas.
  14. beat 13-3. stays alive and is out. beat 5-0. The and start the final round 1-0, and are 0-1.
  15. beat 6-5. and advance to the final round. Their game tomorrow will determine who goes in with a 1-0 and 0-1 record. This is the end of an era. After agonizingly losing two back-to-back games 6-5, in both cases almost coming back to tie in the 9th inning, Cuba is eliminated. This is the first time that Cuba fails to make an Olympic final in Baseball, let alone qualify.
  16. beat 8-6. This means the US advances to the final round where they will start with a 1-0 record. The winner of vs will join them, starting with a 0-1 record. The vs game tomorrow won't affect anything.
  17. Correct. Nobody has been eliminated on the women’s side yet. The 16 women in round 4 are only guaranteed a top 24 finish, and if they make it to round 5 they are only guaranteed a top 12 finish. Making it all the way from the first round of the repechage is a really long road, however.
  18. Hopefully surfing gets a tripartite spot per gender in 2024 now that they have a few more quotas. There are a lot of tripartite-eligible Central American countries who have strong surfers that may narrowly miss out on qualifying.
  19. After the third round for the women, the following countries looking for an Olympic quota are still in: Portugal has two athletes and is looking for two quotas. Peru has two athletes, one of whom is already qualified from the Pan-am games (they are eligible for a quota here, though). One athlete from and one athlete from are not eligible for a quota. We are now starting the truly insane gauntlet that is the men's repêchage rounds.
  20. Lol we did not deserve to be in the quarterfinals. At all. Thanks , y'all did all the work for us. I expect a shellacking from , but hockey is a funny game sometimes.
  21. Lol all three qualifiers are eligible for the UQT. It's a good thing they have the UQT eh?
  22. To be fair the universality tournament is nonsensical :P
  23. was down five points late but came back to force overtime and ultimately won against .
  24. I feel like the officiating overall has not been super great tbh.
  25. They did get a lot of help from Canada, to be fair :P
