  1. The team is going to give Magnificat a back injury with that celebration xD
  2. This small relay bronze dynasty is quite impressive.
  3. I believe it's the only Olympic event where you get a direct advantage from another Olympic event, right? If I had my way there would be a sprint that awards medals and a separate sprint that is used as qualifying for the pursuit, as impractical as that may seem.
  4. is 5-8 in women's curling over the last two Olympics. I think it's time to drag Curling Canada execs in front of Parliament to get an explanation.
  5. Apparently the rocks they use in Canadian events curl more than the rocks used in pro events, and the rocks used in pro events curl more than the rocks in WCF events. Maybe that's part of the issue.
  6. Real risk of Canada winning zero medals in curling for the first time ever, zero golds for only the second time (and first time in twenty years) and no medals in traditional curling for the second Olympics in a row.
  7. Shades of Carlo Janka. Winning the overall and the GS Olympic title in the same season.
  8. Looks like - as a playoff match is very likely (with being the 8th seed if the beats by two or more goals), and in that scenario the winner of that match would most likely face in the QF since they would be the top seed (unless really hammers or vice-versa).
  9. I appreciate your insane optimism @dcro. I’ll send you 100€ if you actually manifested a McLean win into the universe xD
  10. Jieke Kailiaosi has confirmed he is still an American citizen and has refused to comment on whether or not he is a Chinese citizen xD It's actually unclear whether any of the foreign-born players on China's hockey team are actually Chinese citizen. Every American-born player appears to still hold US passports.
  11. I meant in general, not in speed skating in specifically.
  12. Would take a real meltdown for Humphries to not win this now.
  13. The Bird's Nest and Water/Ice Cube really are two of the all time iconic Olympic venues.
  14. From a personality standpoint I'll take Keegan any day of the week. From a sporting standpoint? Ya that wasn't even close. ...that being said I always root for dual citizens no matter what sport they are competing in. Except soccer and hockey, sorry, can't find it in me to ever root for the USWNT after London and you just have to take a side in that women's hockey rivalry.
  15. Oh god I actually can't handle how salty the Canadian section of this forum will be if Humphries wins...
  16. Winter has arrived in Beijing in a big way. GS being held in blizzard conditions.
  17. Rough ride by Apphiah, this track is probably too driving-skill focused for her, but she's a real prospect for 2026. Pretty bad start in monobob sadly.
  18. Shushter doing his best impersonation of a Canadian athlete in the second end.
  19. Genuinely glad at least one of us had fun yesterday xD
  20. What an incredible waste of money that facility was.
  21. Three nations winning their first Skeleton medal (and first sliding medal period in all cases) is pretty extraordinary given only six medals are handed out (and Germany won half of them :P ). Skeleton joins Alpine Skiing, freestyle skiing, short track speed skating and snowboarding as one of the few winter sport where four continents have won medals.
  22. Neise came out of nowhere to win gold. If you made a list of the ten most likely people to win this contest she likely wouldn't be on it. Even accounting for those two medals Germany is ahead of where you'd expect them to be based on world cup performances. In luge, even though Germany was favoured to win all the races was at least a minor surprise that Germany managed to win all of them and Germany was just not the favourite in either skeleton event.
  23. [hide] Knockout Round February 11th - February 17th, 2022 4 Nations, the Winners of each Semifinal will qualify for the Final, the Losers will play the Bronze Medal Match Semifinals Date & Time (GMT +8) Nation 1 T1 T2 Nation 2 February 14th 2022, h. 12:10 Canada 6 Switzerland February 14th 2022, h. 21:10 United States 2 Finland [/hide]
  24. What an upset for Neise. Truly nothing can go wrong for the Germans on this track. This feels like those world championships that are held in Germany where the Germans are entirely unbeatable.
  25. Not sure why I thought GIller and Poirier were a medal chance.
