  1. XD at the OQE Group A Group B Format: 1) Round Robin within your Group. 2) Qualification Round: A1 vs. B1, A2 vs. B2 3) Winner of A1 vs. B1 goes straight to the Olympics. 4) Loser of A1 vs. B1 plays winner of A2 vs. B2. Winner goes to the Olympics
  2. OQE starts December 5. Teams qualified for the OQE Men: + 3 from Pre-OQE Women: + 3 from Pre-OQE Format: Each team plays all others in a Round Robin. First and Second place play each other. The winner moves on to the Olympics. The loser plays Third place, and that winner goes on to the Olympics. (There is also XD at the OQE...but I don't feel like typing that up right now.)
  3. You get your wish! The Men from and the Women from are moving through!
  4. Did Jens van 't Wout withdraw? He won his heat, but didn't appear in the QF for the 500m.
  5. Also in the M 94kg competition, the athlete from in the B group Jokser Albornoz ended up with the bronze overall, including a bronze in the Snatch, and a silver in the C&J.
  6. I know the host nation was pleased to snag a gold with Solfrid Koanda in the W 86kg yesterday. And another bronze for with Mary Theisen-Lappen in the W +86kg (also bronze in the C&J)! We have one more athlete Aaron Williams in the Men's +110kg competition happening now, but judging by the live results, he won't be a medal contender.
  7. for the men are going through to the OQE after a clutch 9th end. for the women are going through. Up next is the last chance for the men, as they face off against . The women from will now face . The winner of these games will head to the OQE. These games will be played in a few hours' time.
  8. Men moving on to OQE and will play. Winner moves to OQE. Loser plays , and that winner goes to OQE. Women moving on to OQE and will play. Winner moves to OQE. Loser plays , and that winner goes to OQE.
  9. Yep... couldn't/didn't want to play in as part of the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers, and was granted win by forfeit. And the opposite was also true... women volleyball couldn't get visas to play in (a territory of ) for the NORCECA W Final 4 tourney, thus other teams participated.
  10. Top team automatically qualifies to the OQE. Second and Third place play each other. The winner moves on to OQE. The loser plays Fourth place, and that winner also goes on to OQE.
  11. When looking up info about Team USA Weightlifting, I learned that Leanda Keahi-Bevans passed away. She's not an athlete I was familiar with, but she has a great story on the link below: https://www.usaweightlifting.org/news/2024/november/06/empowered-by-the-barbell-weightlifting-s-adaptive-athletes RIP
  12. Olivia Reeves gold medal in 77kg W, including a WR in both S and C&J. She was so confident! We also had Mattie Rogers in the same competition, winning a bronze in C&J, just 1 kg away from a bronze overall. Mattie has now won a medal at 6 different WCh! Go Team !
  13. https://curlingstadiumeurope.com/buy-pass Apparently they're having issues with live-streaming (only can see two sheets), so you can get a pass at a reduced cost of £5.75. (I don't pay for this or for the Curling TV service, so idk if the Curling TV also covers this event, if it is reduced, etc. Just passing along the info I found.) I just wish they would post highlights or something...it's nothing.
  14. Schedule for this weekend's comp, per their FB post

  16. Link to Pre-OQE Results: https://livescores.worldcurling.org/preoqe/ men and women got a W today!
  17. I also asked AI...here's what it said: ANA Inspiration (Chevron Championship) – First major of the year, held in California. U.S. Women’s Open – Organized by the USGA, it’s the oldest and arguably most prestigious major. KPMG Women’s PGA Championship – Known for tough courses and strong fields. The Amundi Evian Championship – Held in France, it’s the only major in continental Europe. AIG Women’s Open – Formerly the Women’s British Open, played on iconic UK courses.
  18. Yes, it's something that must be considered, the philosophy of the Olympics, as it were. The Olympics isn't necessarily a collection of only the best athletes in each discipline. It's a collection of many/most of the best athletes, with other athletes present, helping to promote the event as a broader, global event. If you want to see 'only' the best athletes (or closer to that mark), then watch the World Cups or other events throughout the year(s) (like the Grand Smashes, etc. for Table Tennis).
  19. Interesting...that's the first I've heard of this. I think there was talk of 2 ceremonies at LA28...not sure of the current status of that one. My dream bucket list item is to attend an Opening Ceremony, but I would want it to be one that was staged all at one location (mostly because I want to be able to see everything in person if I'm paying that much). If it is multiple sites, it seems it will be like Paris in that it's better for the viewers at home, not those in person.

  22. BTW, the USA Men's and Women's Curling Trials will be 11-16 November 2025. Source: https://www.usacurling.org/2026-olympic-team-trials I would expect to be able to watch this on Peacock, NBC Sports, or something, if not streamed for free online.
  23. From ChatGPT when asking about the team Athlete Why They’re Significant Kristen Santos-Griswold Probably the most consistent American woman in short track right now. She had a breakout season, made podiums across multiple distances, and won her first Crystal Globe (overall points champion in a distance) in the 500 m. (NBC Olympics) She also broke national records at the U.S. Champs. (NBC Olympics) Corinne Stoddard Has been medaling at World Cups and World Championships, especially in relay and mixed relay races. She’s also one of the younger skaters with experience. (Wikipedia) Sean Shuai Very young (born 2006). He won gold in the 500 m at the Youth Olympics, and has strong junior-world performances. Could be one to watch for speed/500 m events. (Wikipedia) Marcus Howard Shows promise in men’s relay/mixed relay events; medaled at junior level, and has some strong relay results as part of the national team. (Wikipedia) Andrew Heo An Olympic returner (2022) with experience, plus recent international relay medals. His experience will matter. (Wikipedia) Brandon Kim, Seung-Min Kwon, Justin Liu, etc. These are on the men’s side athletes who made the National Team for 2025-26. Might not be favorites immediately for gold, but in short track, surprise runs happen — crashes, tactics, heat luck matter a lot. (usspeedskating.org) If I had to guess, here are where the U.S. might be able to pull off some surprises: I expect Kristen Santos-Griswold to be the top medal hope among the women. On the men’s side, someone like Sean Shuai could pull a strong sprint result (500 m) if he continues improving. Mixed relays could be a place USA pushes harder, since depth seems stronger there this cycle. National records will continue to fall — some will come in domestic events, some on the World Tour, possibly in Milan where conditions will matter. From last year's results on the World Tour -No Men's medals at all. -Santos-Griswold and Stoddard bagged 18 medals last year across all three distances. -The Women's team snagged one bronze in the relay. -The Mixed team earned bronze twice in the relay. Also... Santos-Griswold earned 5 medals at the 2024 WCh: One of each color for the various individual races, Silver for Women's relay, and Bronze in the Mixed relay. Stoddard won the two relay medals, as well as a bronze in the 1500m at the WCh.
  24. So sad to hear! Skimo was a new sport to me, but I do recognize that name as someone who was constantly towards the top of the races. Sad for her, for the team, for Spain, for all...will pray for her.
