  1. How we did in Montreal 1: Men: 500m - Andrew Heo and Brandon Kim made the QF 1000m - Clayton De Clemente made the Repechage SF 1500m - Brandon Kim finished 7th in the B Final. Andrew Heo made the SF. Relay - Didn't make the SF. Finished 2nd in the Ranking Finals (so 10th overall) Women: 500m - Corinne Stoddard with the Bronze, Kristen Santos-Griswold finishing 1st in the B Final (so 6th overall). 1000m - Again, Stoddard with the Bronze. KSG went out in the QF. 1500m - Stoddard with a third bronze. KSG in 6th. Kamryn Lute also made the SF. Relay - Didn't make the SF. Finished 1st in the Ranking Finals (9th overall). Mixed Relay: Made it to the B Finals and DNS (so 8th). It's obvious who our top two athletes are. Hopefully the men can start seeing some better results, too.
  2. Not used to seeing Marchand come in 2nd in the breast!
  3. Updated Post 2 with Results. Womens 1000 and 1500 had the same podium. Medal Count at Montreal 1: Federation Gold Silver Bronze Total Rep. of Korea 3 4 0 7 Canada 3 1 3 7 Netherlands 1 2 0 3 China 1 1 2 4 Italy 1 1 1 3 USA 0 0 3 3
  4. Stoddard looking good with three bronzes. KSG left without a medal this time...but we'll see you next weekend!
  5. Vincent Hancock with his 5th individual skeet World Championship gold medal (to go along with his 4 Olympic gold medals). Congrats!
  6. They (whoever 'they' is) should create an Olympic sports subscription package that lets us Olympic fans watch all the Olympic sports with just one subscription.
  7. At least with these, speaking of money, I can watch it freely on YouTube, vs. other sports like curling and archery, where everything is behind a paywall.
  8. I read an article (I think it was on the 49er website) talking about how the change is more for TV/casual fans, as it's easier to understand where 1st place in the race = gold medal. As someone new to the sport, I don't have much to compare it to, but I can understand how it changes the sport. (And the change due to TV/fans ultimately = that it's due to $$, which is unfortunate but real.)
  9. Always nice to see the home country of the competition achieve a medal. I know the crowd love it. (And of course I'm thrilled to see on top.)
  10. Gold for Samantha Simonton in W Skeet!
  11. Yes, it is interesting. I can see how athletes don't like it. I know scoring systems change in some other sports (I'm thinking about sport climbing), but it is interesting to change how a sport is won in competition. Even in American football, they change some rules that affect the end of the game if the score is tied.
  12. It's an interesting system. If you're fourth going into the medal race...your options are go home with no medal, or go home with gold. (And the top two going in know they're getting a medal of some color.)
  13. XD at the OQE Group A Group B Format: 1) Round Robin within your Group. 2) Qualification Round: A1 vs. B1, A2 vs. B2 3) Winner of A1 vs. B1 goes straight to the Olympics. 4) Loser of A1 vs. B1 plays winner of A2 vs. B2. Winner goes to the Olympics
  14. OQE starts December 5. Teams qualified for the OQE Men: + 3 from Pre-OQE Women: + 3 from Pre-OQE Format: Each team plays all others in a Round Robin. First and Second place play each other. The winner moves on to the Olympics. The loser plays Third place, and that winner goes on to the Olympics. (There is also XD at the OQE...but I don't feel like typing that up right now.)
  15. You get your wish! The Men from and the Women from are moving through!
  16. Did Jens van 't Wout withdraw? He won his heat, but didn't appear in the QF for the 500m.
  17. Also in the M 94kg competition, the athlete from in the B group Jokser Albornoz ended up with the bronze overall, including a bronze in the Snatch, and a silver in the C&J.
  18. I know the host nation was pleased to snag a gold with Solfrid Koanda in the W 86kg yesterday. And another bronze for with Mary Theisen-Lappen in the W +86kg (also bronze in the C&J)! We have one more athlete Aaron Williams in the Men's +110kg competition happening now, but judging by the live results, he won't be a medal contender.
  19. for the men are going through to the OQE after a clutch 9th end. for the women are going through. Up next is the last chance for the men, as they face off against . The women from will now face . The winner of these games will head to the OQE. These games will be played in a few hours' time.
  20. Men moving on to OQE and will play. Winner moves to OQE. Loser plays , and that winner goes to OQE. Women moving on to OQE and will play. Winner moves to OQE. Loser plays , and that winner goes to OQE.
  21. Yep... couldn't/didn't want to play in as part of the FIBA AmeriCup qualifiers, and was granted win by forfeit. And the opposite was also true... women volleyball couldn't get visas to play in (a territory of ) for the NORCECA W Final 4 tourney, thus other teams participated.
  22. Top team automatically qualifies to the OQE. Second and Third place play each other. The winner moves on to OQE. The loser plays Fourth place, and that winner also goes on to OQE.
  23. When looking up info about Team USA Weightlifting, I learned that Leanda Keahi-Bevans passed away. She's not an athlete I was familiar with, but she has a great story on the link below: https://www.usaweightlifting.org/news/2024/november/06/empowered-by-the-barbell-weightlifting-s-adaptive-athletes RIP
  24. Olivia Reeves gold medal in 77kg W, including a WR in both S and C&J. She was so confident! We also had Mattie Rogers in the same competition, winning a bronze in C&J, just 1 kg away from a bronze overall. Mattie has now won a medal at 6 different WCh! Go Team !
