Pedersen out!

Was shocked when I read on the news that we won a medal in shooting.

Many Dutch speed skaters, including Sven Kramer (Gold 5.000m), Kjeld Nuis (Gold 1.500m), Patrick Roest (Silver 1.500m) and Esmee Visser (Gold 5.000m) all did it as well.

"But I still have one chance", isn't that supposed to mean the mass start? (even though I do believe she'll try and continue for another four years, and given her recent results, why not)
Yeah, this video is only one clip of her press conference. That one chance is indeed the mass start, but she also stated that she will announce the end of her career ... in four years.

Pechstein has now confirmed in a press conference that she will indeed continue skating for four more years. She'll turn 50 in February 2022.

The expected - final in the women's team pursuit; and will fight for bronze.

Jorien ter Mors won gold on the 1.000m in long track speed skating (and two golds in 2014) and now a bronze medal as part of the short track relay. First woman ever to win medals in two different sports at the same Olympic Games, according to the Dutch broadcaster.
Maybe Ledecka can be the second later this week.

Good first week for Dutch speed skating of course.
I was rewatching some videos/interviews from the past week and noted that all Olympic champions in speed skating so far speak Dutch, including Bloemen of course, but also Kodaira. I really like how she comes across in interviews, she's very sweet.
I was also really impressed by Erbanova's Dutch language skills. The interviewer was talking quite fast, but she understood everything and replied without taking time to think about how to phrase her answers.
-
Erbanova almost faster than Lee. Who would have thought that?!
-
First woman ever to skate sub 37 seconds outside of Calgary and Salt Lake City.
-
Good time for Ter Mors!
Lee and Kodaira will be faster, but maybe she can finish top 5, which would be great.

Meh, it will be 4th place for , I'm sure.
Wouldn't be the first time someone falls in the team pursuit.
Furthermore, skates with a 16-year old. I think the pressure will be big in the semi finals as a win would automatically mean a medal. Maybe the pressure will get to him.

Happy for Ter Mors! Hopefully she will win medals in two different sports at these OG.

Next is quarterfinal with 3 Koreans... RIP Fauconnet.
Fauconnet will try everything possible and will get a penalty. No doubt!

Shim falling in her heat!

Pechstein apparently said to German tv that she wants to try to qualify for Beijing 2020. She'll be 50 then.

And that medal in 1998 was won by a Dutch speed skater who moved to Belgium to avoid qualification competitions in the Netherlands.
