  1. There is not enough time to change the candidate. Besides, it used to be easier to do this (before 1982 I think) - the decisions were made by party barons, not delegates, as is the case today. Two, there is no obvious candidate to replace Biden: Harris is less popular than him and Michelle Obama doesn't even want to run - it's hard to say whether she has the competence and experience to do so. From the Democrats' point of view, it`s best to keep Biden, who will probably lose and get ready for 2028 with a new candidate - Trump can only rule for one more term, because the one from 2016-2020 counts.
  2. Probabilmente volevano raggiungere 400 persone: sembra carino in termini di immagine.
  3. Guardando Wikipedia da Tokio si notano dati divergenti anche per quanto riguarda il numero degli italiani: 371-381-384. Secondo me, ciò deriva dal conteggio o dal non conteggio delle riserve.
  4. This swimmer is quite old and is unlikely to return to a high level but now they have young people + strong relay teams. You will have to pull out every medal and probably achieve personal bests to stand on the podium.
  5. I meant that if there was Russia, the level would be extremely high. Its absence is somewhat offset by China's rapid growth in last years. The Chinese woman has the best time in the 100 breaststroke this year: she will a danger oponent for Ruta and Beny Pilato.
  6. The level of swimming has improved significantly since Tokyo: mainly due to the increase in the level of China, as well as Australia + traditionally the USA. If it weren't for Russia, the level would be astronomical.
  7. I followed the results of the European Junior Championships in swimming in Vilnius and Lithuania started very well but these are young people for the future. For now, you still have the great Meilutytye in the breastroke style: our Pilato has no chance against her in the 100 meters.
  8. 2004, so 20 years ago, although objectively we shouldn`t have won this medal under any circumstances on paper but when we had the best players in history and 4 from the NBA, we didn`t even advance to the 2016 Olympics. Life is very twisted sometimes...
  9. In Italy many veterans will also leave apart from Fontecchio. In retrospect: from the beginning of the 21st century we had the greatest successes with players from clubs only for Europe: 2003/2004 (then we had no one from the NBA) and our golden generation on paper: Bargnani-Belinelli- Gallinari- Datome- Hackett etc ( 4 of them played in the NBA) were not able to even win bronze at the European Championships 2013/2015/2017 and didn`t advance to the Olympic Games in 2016, even though we had a qualifying tournament at home. We played at the Olympic Games only in 2021 but Gallinari didn`t take part in the qualifications and only played at the Olympic Games. I also understand you a little. Good atatistics in the NBA don`t always translate into good play in the national team.
  10. Yes. I have always been struck by the contrast between the Dominican Republic and Haiti - both countries are located on the same island but the first one is quite stable and rich, while the second is almost bankrupt. I`m always interested in such phenomena and their causes.
  11. The fact that someone has won against someone once or even advanced to the Olympics, e.g. the Czech Republic in 2021, doesn`t mean anything. If anything, it can be said that Germany has made huge progress in recent years and it has been for a longer period of time, not just 1-2 events.
  12. In 2014 we lost to Puerto Rico at the Volleyball World Championships, so they were also good at this sport. I remember it well, because in 2014 we lost at the FIFA World Cup against Costa Rica and at the Volleyball World Champ. against Puerto Rico and it was often mentioned as the decline of our team sports :P
  13. Despite everything in 2021 Lithuania was more strong opponent - Slovenia with Doncic, which is later was placed in 4th place at the Olympic Games. Latvia, on the other hand, could never even compare to Lithuania's training system, traditions and talent pool of players. Latvia is, above all, ice hockey.
  14. Yes, but basketball in Lithuania is the national sport and in Puerto Rico apparently the most popular sport is baseball - someone wrote on an Italian forum yesterday. I don't know if it's true because I'm not very familiar with the realities of this country.
  15. I think that Lithuania had its golden generation in 2003/2004 - they had a great chance to win gold in Athens considering the weakness of the USA but they faced one of the best matches in history played by the Italian team. It`s true that I`m don`t interested in European basketball as he was 20 years ago but it seems to me that Lithuania hasn`t been able to raise a generation similar to that in 2004. I don't know why but I suspect that it is simply a small country and even with the best training system, they will not be able to compete in the long term with Spain, France, etc., which have dozen times more population. Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia have a similar problem. As for this particular tournament, Lithuania already failed when it didn`t apply to host this tournament. Then, today Lithuania would probably be happy about qualifying for the Olympics: Italy was embarrassingly weak and Puerto Rico took full advantage of the advantage of its own arena.
  16. Lulu Sun is`t from NZL, not China?
  17. It's sad to watch. Recent days have shown that we do not exist in football and basketball. Where should we go to France or Spain? The only team sports we have left are volleyball and possibly men's water polo.
  18. We have no potential to win against Lithuania + we have a terrible coach who constantly catches technical fouls and causes chaos.
  19. Iran could then follow the path of Turkey, where Ataturk introduced a secular state. Later, Erdogan began to move away from this, but Türkiye is still very modern and rich.
  20. What do you think about this Shah regime before the 1978 revolution? In hindsight, what was the best path for your country back then?
  21. got a reallocated spot in the men's 400... which means and got one as well (or declined)
  22. Be calm and relax, man ;). Italy hasn't won against Lithuania in an official match since the 2004 Athens Olympics. We currently have the same problem in basketball as in football: a mediocre league full of foreigners and young and talented Italians are scarce. Traditionally, a hole in the center position + lots of injuries: Fontecchio, Procida, Spagnolo etc. Our only NBA player is Danilo Gallinari-37 years who suffered a minor injury at the end of the match yesterday. Additionally, we are guided by the crazy Pozzecco, who harms rather than helps the team and causes additional chaos. It seems that the Italian federation put everything on Paolo Banchero in our team and when he chose the USA, they ran out of ideas and enthusiasm. The current Italian team with this squad and coach is doomed to failure. The only thing that can prevent Lithuania from advancing to the Olympics is some incredible 3-pointer games from Puerto Rico in the final.
  23. No. I was born 1 year later :P My first memory of sports is the World Cup final in 1994 - my father told me to watch it :P
