  1. I'm no big expert, but I'm just comparing times and going by that my predictions. If you beat Bergsma in under 10 seconds, your time wasn't particularly fast, but I could be wrong. We will see.
  2. It's certainly a more measurable sport than any other Alpine skiing event- even slalom with Shiffrin or giant slalom with Odermatt. If someone is a strong favorite and has shown the form van der Poel has in 2022, then two gold medals are very realistic. As of today, Jilek, in his December form, would have those two golds.
  3. Okay, but all the top 10k guys, except Bergsma and Ghiotto, will be competing only once at the Olympics (Lubineaud was in 2022, because I don't remember?). And if I remember correctly, you wrote over a year ago that Jilek is a future phenomenon and that two gold medals in Milan are very likely.
  4. She's quite well-known in the world of alpine skiing, and besides, she's had several serious injuries and always returned to a high level. Now, for me, she has a chance to win a medal in the giant slalom on OG.
  5. Here you have statesmen and old leaders that's why we were the leaders back then, and the USSR fell apart. And who said I support Trump? I have never even been in USA in my life... Personally, I think he's a clown, but he unfortunately show the decline of our entire Western World- of which the USA was a leader for a long time.
  6. My personal favorite in Canadian athlete is Valerie Grenier. She's so likeable and sweet
  7. Canada had a great home-boost in 2010. Unfortunately, that's not the case in us – look at 2006... We won fewer medals in Torino 2006 than in 2002 (11 vs. 13)
  8. Do you have short track, freestyle, snowboardcross, hockey x2? You'll definitely win 5-6 gold medals. If you want, I'll gladly sign now for Italy to win 5-6 gold medals in February... Canada has at least 3 girls competing for medals in the long distances, and we only have 1 Lollobirigida- also quite old.
  9. A true champion- van der Poel came to Beijing for 2 gold medal, and he won 2 gold there, without worrying about other people from the Netherlands: Roest, Norway, or any other country. These are the kinds of people Italy lacks.
  10. There's always someone who will show up there, but it's unlikely to be someone who'll win gold in Cortina. Ghiotto, on the other hand, in his best from a 1 or 2 ago, should be able to beat him quite confidently: Ghiotto beat Bergsma by at least 11-12 seconds in the 10km. If he's not in that form, he could just as easily lose to Semurunnyi or Lubineaud (sorry, if I write bad this 2 names).
  11. It was a funny thing that Fabris and speed skating saved the entire Olympics for us in 2006 - without their 2 gold medals it would have been a disaster on home soil... Cross-country skiing also gave a lot, but that was expected, because we were a great power there at the time....
  12. He won by 10 seconds over Bergsma and Bosker not a great result for me. In their best races, Ghiotto beat this guys by well over 10 seconds.
  13. Fabris was absolutely spot-on in his form for the 2006 Olympics. It was a masterpiece. He's never been in such great shape before or since. Moreover, in the 1500 meters, no one was out of reach at the time. The chances of that happening with Ghiotto are slim, as he peaked one or two years ago, and even a bronze medal would be a failure for him – he already won bronze in 2022, when he was much weaker than he is now.
  14. This youngster has a chance, but only if his progression continues until February. As of today, he'd be in 4th or 5th place, alongside the Frenchman, based on his World Cup times in December.
  15. Bosker literally has a 0.001% chance of winning a medal in the 10km and he knows it.
  16. If Ghiotto doesn't significantly improve his form by February, he could be left with nothing even in the 10 km, considering the progress of his rivals: Cze, Pol, Fra, and now this young Dutchman. It would be a decade's worth of bullshit to dominate a four-year cycle so completely, only to be left with literally nothing at the home Games. But it was clear that Italy wasn't good at home games, and that this was how it would be – others would win the medals.
  17. I'm 100% certain that if girls from USA were in 15th or 17th place, no one in the USA would even be watching this sport. There's interest when Vonn, Shiffrin, or earlier Miller wins. Nobody there cares about any lower rankings.
  18. Without of Goggia and Brignone, our alpine skiing is practically non-existent, and these losers are giving away our greatest talent to Albania... Congratulations! Because watching a competition where Peterlini finishes 17th and della Mea might have finished 10th if she hadn't fallen isn't fun for me. Sorry.
  19. Of course, they will land on all fours paw and win their own along with short track: 7-8 gold medals, which is much more than we have won in the last 4-5 winter editions
  20. Thanks to the women, you'll still win 4-5 gold medals+ probably 2 in short track, and you'll be easy in the top 10 in the medal standings. Italy has no chance of winning 7-8 gold medals, and the only time they've done that was in 1994. The Netherlands simply don't have a phenomenon like Stolz in men right now, but even the greatest power can come to a time when some outstanding individual from another country begins to dominate.
  21. Even after qualifying, it was clear that Pellegrino was in poor form, and worse still, he didn't gain anything in the knockout stages. He's 35 years old, and it's hard to imagine him continuing the Italian races for 15 years. The rest of the Italian team has made no progress and has no chance of winning medals in Cortina. Switzerland has two young guys in the final, but where are Italy? Not to mention the fact that Chanavat is currently stronger than Pellegrino. In the women's, Cassol placed 10th, but the podium is light years away. If we were the Czech Republic or Poland, I'd say such results are OK, but not with our traditions, conditions for training etc.
  22. It was good. Did he ever sing at Eurovision?
  23. It's hard to believe it was still in this calendar year
  24. In last year, we were were happy with Brignone's wins, and today we're excite that della Mea is in the top 10... It's hard to imagine a bigger fall... And Goggia should give up on the giant slalom and focus on the speed events – Vonn isn't wasting time on the giant slalom, but is training for downhill and SG. Goggia last one finished on the podium in the giant slalom in march 2018, and she has no any chance of winning an Olympic medal at the regular competition. It's a waste of time and energy to finish 8th or 9th and risk injury. And we have to accept that without Brignone, we have no chance of winning a medal in the giant slalom in Cortina, and that's it.
