Italian football without thorough reforms is lost and even won`t help winning against Switzerland and playing in 1/4. Our young players must play in the basic lineups of strong teams, just like it was 20 years ago and more. There cannot be a situation where Milan has at most 1 Italian in the starting lineup. Currently, the Italian squad simply lacks quality up front. We used to have, for example, del Piero and Totti and now we have Scamacca and Retegui... This proves our decline.

If it worked like that, C. Ronaldo wouldn't be playing in Saudi Arabia now :P

Boruc, however, was not at that level - the best club that he played was Celtic Glasgow. Dudek played for Liverpool some of seasons and had his great time - the Champions League final in 2005 but he wasn`t able to play at such a high level for as long a period of time as Szczesny. In Poland acutally is better stadium and training infrastructure compared to 20 years ago, when Lewandowski and Szczesny started their careers. Poland's problem, I think, is a weak league and a large number of weak foreign players playing in it. At the moment, the only chance for a Polish player to have a great career is to go to Western Europe as soon as possible.

In my opinion Lewandowski had his peak in 2016-2021. Back then he was the leader of the Polish team, although it was not always 100% visible at biggest events. However, thanks to his goals, Poland regularly qualified for big events, which is not always obvious, e.g. the example of Italy. From 2022 Szczesny is the leader of the team and this was see at the 2022 World Championships and qualifying rounds for the current European Championships. So his goodbye from the national team will be quite a symbolic end to an era that will come to an end after Lewandowski's final resignation in 2? years.

I think that Lewandowski has always been the face of Polish football and during every major football event, a lot of advertisements with his participation are broadcast, so I suspect that he will prolong his career, just like C. Ronaldo. Szczesny has always been in the shadow - also due to his position on the pitch, so he can actually leave whenever he wants and there will be no pressure from sponsors/advertising companies, etc. Perhaps that's even better? I`m not a supporter of forcing careers just because of sponsorship obligations.

A bit strange, because he isn`t to old for a goalkeeper (34 year) and could play for a few more years. Lewandowski should end his career sooner.

The form is there, which was visible individually but we are losing to Romania again. If we were to make a ranking today, we would also fall behind Germany... There would be better chances with France in Paris than with Hungary and Szilyagi. We are digging our own grave.

I don't like the attitude of the Italian men's team at big events. This is the second such failure after the last World Championships. I don't know what the problem is, but losing to Hungary with this squad is a shame.

Today it was the scariest Italy in the 21st century at big events. Zero quality, zero talent, terrible defense, terrible coach.

In a women team saber tournament, you can only win a medal at the Olympics if you have a killer on the last fight. We don't have one. And I'm surprised that Greece or Spain have greater individualities than us... Our women's saber team can be compared to Ukraine, only they have Kharlan at the end and we have Criscio, Gregorio or Battiston - average fencers without much talent. Our last saber fencer with the potential for something bigger was probably Ilaria Bianco from 20 years ago.

For me it's simply bad. There is no chance for a medal in the men's individual epee: our leader- de Veroli took only one 3rd place in this season. In addition, he will not be seeded in Paris 99%. All that remains is to hope for a medal in the team. The women's saber still has the same problem - missing of individuality for many years. The only thing we can afford is some bronze at the minor European Championships in the Olympic year or post Olympic year and now even that hasn't happened (in theory our athlete with the greatest potential for an individual result - Rosella Gregorio, will not even go to the Olympic Games...). In fact, with such weak material, the team's advancement to the Olympics is a small miracle. Of course, we can't dream about any medals there. Unfortunately, over the last 10-15 years we have not been able to overcome mediocrity when other countries have stars: Ukraine, France, Japan, USA, Hungary and now even Greece and Spain. With the missing of a leader like Kharlan, we can't count on the team winning any medals at a big event indidiwdual and also in the team. The world has moved forward and we stand still in this weapon. Let's be honest, if it weren't absence for Russia, our girls would have watched the games on TV.

Terrible form for the Italians. Only 1 will have a medal today. With such a poor level, it's a disgrace: no Rus, no Thibus, no Sauer. Volpi has too many strange fails. It's a long way to the level of domination of the Italian women's foil team from the times of Vezzali, di Francisca and Errigo.
