Perdere contro paesi come questi è davvero imbarazzante.
  4. We'll see, however, what the difference is between a true skiing powerhouse, like Switzerland or Austria, which can turn a solid skier like Rast into a World Cup winner. There's no Gut phenomenon, but what's the problem, when we create another great girl, even if with less potential? Austria did the same with Scheib, the USA with Moltzan, etc. Meanwhile, Italy got a great talent just for free- Colturi, who was always outside the Italian training system- and we still messed everything up and lost her. And after Brignone and Bassino, we don't have anyone on the podium in the giant slalom. I'm sure that Lara della Mea in Switzerland would now be achieving results on par with Rast (and they're the same age) or Moltzan. They simply know how to do it, not just improvise like us. And here? There was Tomba, Compagnoni, then Brignone, now Colturi, but do you think anyone knows why such talents emerged here? No. We're just hoping for luck, but how many times can you be lucky? And even when we are lucky, we stumble over our own feet, like with Colturi. Well, it's hard to call it anything other than a nation of losers
  5. Doesn't she always get active during the Olympic season? Previously, in 2022, her best result was 9th place in the giant slalom classification.
  7. France? They invest 90% of their money in biathlon, but yet they have Chanavat, Chappaz, or someone else competing. We on the entire TDS in Italy didn't even get a single podium... One Pellegrino in 15 years and nothing. The rest are weak and will never to win anything. France and Switzerland, without any tradition in this sport, achieve 10x better results than us... I regret that Cortina won the battle for these Olympics against Stockholm many years ago... At least they would have prepared well for these competitions and achieved great success at home. We'll get our asses kicked and literally nothing for the future. 90% of our stars are over 30, and they would have won medals even without the Olympics in Italy. Besides, no one new showed up.
  8. No Brignone - no podiums for Italy this season in giant slalom... Switzerland? No Gut, but is Rast... USA? Shiffrin is weaker in giant slalom, it's Moltzan, etc. It's just that other powerhouses have done a good job for the last 4 years, and Italy has relied solely on Brignone and Goggia for the past 10 years + we lost Colturi. We're losers and that's it
  9. Again, no podium for Italy – best place 10th... And in the final, a Frenchman and a German... We're simply weak. Pellegrino will leave and unfortunately, cross-country skiing in Italy will end. Faendrich, Rydzek etc? This is the max. level of our Follis from 15 years ago. Why couldn't we train someone like that when we had our home games? Because, excuse me, 10th-12th place in a weak field at the TDS is ridiculous.
  10. Canada has a guaranteed QO here, becouse no new entrants will likely to compete. Georgia started in the pre-Olympic event in Cortina, but had a DNF and probably they withdrawn from the competition for QO places. Canada, however, will lose its QO in the men's single tomorrow to Bosnia.
  11. Are the Canadian women`s double planning to compete at the Olympics? Looking at the World Cup competitions, they have good results? This is important because the absence of Canada or China means the entry of a second German double... I'm interested in this, because no one in Italy wants two German women doubles Two, if Canada loses the QO in the men's single (almost certain for today), will they unable to field a team? Or is it possible that if Canada and China are both miss of a QO in the men's single, the IOC will allow them to add the missing member so they can field a team? With the absence of Canadian and Chinese teams, only eight teams will compete in the team- relay.
  12. Personally, I'm afraid that she will come back too soon before the Olympics and something bad will happen I don't really know what to expect from her? Fighting for the podium, for 10th place, etc.? She said that if she comes back, it will only be in top form, but it could be different. https://www.instagram.com/p/DTA0clUDc87/?img_index=1
  14. Unfortunately, I don't know much about ice hockey at all, but maybe the other friend from Italy will be able to tell more?
  15. Valentina Margaglio's 4th place today will give her a spot in the Olympics at now? This is important for us, because we'll then be able to field 2 mixed doubles teams, than 1.
  16. This sport is truly becoming a circus... There are far more serious injuries than 20-30 years ago, when medical science was at a much lower level. Maybe the FIS should do anything about this problem instead of inventing some new competition in cross-country skiing or ski jumping? In my opinion, the problem is with the current skis or the snow they are currently skiing, but I would lean more I think about skis, because injuries are even more often in training than in official competitions.
  17. That 6-place quota for men would significantly help us in the men's relay, although I don't believe we'll win a medal. We're simply weaker than Sweden, France and the USA, not to mention Norway. To win a medal, each of our 4 skiers: Pellegrino, Barp, Carollo and Graz, would have to be in their peak form on that day and one of our rivals, like France or USA would have to have a bad day. Considering that four Italian`s guys and their instability and young age (with the exception of Pellegrino), our chances are very small: also the 5-th and 6-th skiers is a much weaker, than that 4.
  18. She's already achieved top-10 in several competitions on single rounds, so it's no a huge surprise. Canada and China are showing that success in women's ski jumping is possible even without a tradition in the sport. It's just a shame Italy can't do something similar – we have quite a strong tradition in women's ski jumping – we even had a World Championship medal in 2011. But this is yet another winter discipline that demonstrates that hosting home games literally benefits nothing fot Italy and this is unfortunately due to our incompetence. I would also understand someone specializing, like the Netherlands and simply abandoning most snow sports: cross- country, ski- jumping, alpine skiing, etc., but not this shit, what we do now: look at ski jumping, cross-country skiing and nordic combined. https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&competitorid=97562&raceid=3048
  19. It's a shame Pellegrino wasn't in the top 3... Davide Graz's form is hard to explain – he's probably sick again, but is it normal for a professional athlete to be constantly sick? After Markus Cramer's 4 years in office, only Caterina Ganz remains at a decent-good level. The rest are even worse than they were at this time in 2022. I can't rate this job positively in anyway.
  20. What are the chances that Italy will get a 6th quotas in the men? When will this be know at 100%?
  22. Francesca Franchi - 6th place at the 2023 World Championships in the 10km free... Today: 69... Now that's what I write a waste of talent... With a good system, she should be fighting today for podium places with Diggins and the Swedes. The same will happen with Gismondi soon... Why do we need the games at home if we can't prepare a solid team, when we have the good girl to work with them? https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/athlete-biography.html?sectorcode=CC&seasoncode=2023&competitorid=198357&type=result&categorycode=WSC&sort=&place=&disciplinecode=&position=&limit=100
  23. That's true, but if Ganz had at least performed at a solid level, she could have stood on the podium today, as her run was the fastest. As you can see, we can't even capitalize on such opportunities, and we've been waiting for a podium finish in the World Cup since 2011 and Arianna Follis times. And we'll wait another 15 years, because I don't see any progress and even if someone like Franchi or Gismondi does show up for moment, they quickly disappear due to injury or illness.
