  1. Poland is looking great. The final european olympic qualifications will be crazy. Russia really had luck to get the group they got, otherwise I think they would be fighting with the rest of the pack. Only Serbia and Italy are a level above.
  2. To be fair, I think that's an issue in a lot of other countries as well...
  3. Interesting that you ask, literally all the most popular or succesful sports here are the british ones (football, rugby, Polo, field hockey, tennis). Except Cricket.... for some reason I ignore it never took off.
  4. Yes, but it's not because of that, just that I find some italian athletes/teams charming usually. I'm also 1/8 hungarian and spanish but I would rarely support those countries in any sport.
  5. To play this game you need to be invaded by the british at some point
  6. Most of the time simply because they are a small Argentina. In other continents: -I don't normally support any European nations because most of them are sport powerhouses, but is the one that I mostly sympathize with, many times they have a nice underdog mentality that is very charming. Also, just to be incendiary: Serbia>Croatia, Ireland>UK, Netherlands>Belgium, Norway>Sweden and Denmark, Greece>Turkey, Lithuania > Latvia & Estonia, Slovakia and Czechia are the same in my support. -In Asia, mostly because of hockey tradition and their problems compared to their big neighbours to the east. -in Africa I especially like the southern countries ( )because of rugby tradition and the history of racial oppression related to it, but I will support any african nation most of the time. And that's it. I think the only countries I would never support in any sport are USA and China. It's like cheering for McDonald's or Coca-Cola.
  7. Well done, 22 points, around as I predicted. 4 years of no progress at all. And soon probably these girls will be left without any support from the state so I don't foresee any progress in the next 4 as well.
  8. Yeah nothing unusual to cheer for here and the winner will be a punching bag in Tokyo, so... really boring on top of that Brazil/Argentina participate in every other team sport so either group of girls won't get more than one minute of screen time in their own countries.
  9. Half of them about the more interesting topic of xv vs 7s.
  10. 71 to fucking 0 Well, who cares about south america women's rugby anyway.
  11. What a disappointment that our team couldn't even beat Colombia, that was the only realistic objective of the tournament. 4 years of hard work and no improvement to show with results. They will certainly beat Peru by 30 and then lose to Brazil by 20-something, it's always the same.
  12. Like - Paula Pareto (Judo) Probable - Santiago Lange (Sailing) Don't see anyone else with a chance of being flag bearer. Normally only people who already have won olympic medal or world championship and are close to retirement are chosen.
  13. Yeah, I don't like when Germany goes for that type of design. I like all white or all black without any stripes (though the alternate from Brazil 2014 was cool).
  14. Super rugby, sevens, volleyball and Roland Garros all at the same time. Won't be watching champions league later as I have stuff to do.
  15. This tournament is a complete joke. Not just because of the b teams, but mostly because everyone plays like they don't give two shits. Nothing really matters, this doesn't qualify for anything, it's just a bother amid preparation for the real qualifiers which are in 2 months, ranking points are laughable, it's 15 games just to make the finals, the main leagues finished like 2 days ago... I miss the old World League of the 90s/early 00s almost all teams cared, B teams were rare and the title had prestige.
  16. Hmm not really? The viewing numbers of rugby world cup keep increasing and the money for players is in the union professional leagues, not in the sevens. Several of the sevens players have to also play XV to earn a living. I don't think a sevens player can earn money from anywhere but from what their national federation pays them. As long as the money is in the XVs, it will always remain dominant. Hell, even rugby league is much more of a "threat" for XVs, in that sense. It's like expecting 3x3 to overthrow 5x5 basketball in popularity, it's just not going to happen. One format has an enormous professional structure behind, the other is far from it.
  17. You are rugby noob then My problem with the sevens is that things like line outs, scrums and kicking in general (except for the kick off) are rendered almost meaningless while they play a huge part of strategy in XVs. Of course, if you only want to watch tries being scored you will like sevens more. Maybe that's why americans like it...
  18. For regular XV watchers sevens is incredibly dull. Barely any strategy involved, you just have to search the 7 most athletic guys you can. If they also happen to have the handling skills of the fijians, then you have a gold medal contender team.
  19. And Norway is out
  20. How can Serbia play at home with a squad like this? No respect for the fans that buy tickets.
  21. 12 - 0 Some player scored 9 goals. Norway can still be eliminated in group stage despite this win if some results from other groups don't go in their favor.
  22. 1. Usa 2.Brazil 3.Cuba 4. Canada 5.Colombia 6.Mexico 7.Argentina 8.Venezuela 9.Chile 10.Ecuador
  23. Wtf shooting exists in Uruguay??
  24. Yeah, mostly because the attendance is usually just the family and friends of the fencers
