  3. Nigeria is not so poor that they can't hold to their young talent. Especially not in football since they qualify to almost every world cup and have a more prestigious team than Qatar probably will ever have.
  4. ^ or if the ref didn't save you with Argentina. You get those iranian referees, you win Just a joke. Egypt deserved to pass anyway.
  5. Can someone explain me why Qatar is above Angola in this standing? yesterday they did the same with group A showing Russia above Brazil despite Brazil won their match-up.
  6. Yes. As far as I remember all top 15 players are egyptian, asian or European.
  7. I think it will just be bodybuilding and men's softball. Only Canada/USA host would remove pelota. Between squash and racquetball it's a no brainer that racquetball should stay, in pan american games it's almost a world championship while squash is a low level event. Anyway I think both stay.
  8. All teams advance to quarterfinals.
  9. Looking at the matches I'd say Vietnam and Oman are winning for sure. The others are close.
  10. Ouch, didn't know that. But.... There is also the possibility that Angola beats us and ties with both in 4pts if we keep losing balls in attack like today it wouldn't surprise me.
  11. Actually I feel Egypt will be the one to qualify at the end. I don't see Qatar winning points with Sweden and I don't see them beating our team by more than 4 goals.
  12. Very bad referees in Argentina-Egypt for both sides. They were a bit harsh on egyptian players in the first half mostly but in the last 2 minutes they saved Egypt in a play were they should have been given a suspension and a penalty (because they were defending inside the circle), instead they were given only a suspension and the ball for them and also an argentinian player was given a suspension for protesting about this (about which he was right). Egypt won the game right there.
  13. Maybe they will give the wildcard to France and Europe will just have one more team than what they were supposed to. USA is working hard to develop their handball. But I find it unlikely that they will become better than let's say Cuba by 2025.
  14. This is incorrect, he has been injured since Shanghai last year. He fractured something in the middle of a match.
  15. This is the scene in Argentina.. Tv pública: the state channel. They show football NT matches and world cup in their main channel. However, they have a sport dedicated channel (called deportv). In that one they show documentaries or interviews about sport most of the time but also national leagues of minor sports like handball, hockey or volleyball. They broadcasted volleyball wch last year and now handball wch. ESPN: has 3 channels. Focus on american sports obviously (NBA, NFL, MLB). They also show a lot of tennis (all GS and M1000) and a lot of Rugby (Argentina NT, super rugby and European leagues). They also do the big Tours of cycling, the golf majors, big competitions of field hockey, some motosport and some obscure sports like is tradition of them. Overall, they are the channel that shows the less football here, though they have their good share of it as well. TyC Sports: used to show a lot of minor sports but now they show/talk 20 hours of football a day. Still, they show national league matches of basketball/volleyball (one per week lol). Their main thing, however, is that they do all multi-sport events (south american, panamerican and olympic games). It's their only redeeming quality these days. Fox Sports: trash. Only football all day since they have the rights for Argentina league and Copa Libertadores. Bizarrelly, in their second channel they show WWE and MMA since they have the rights for some reason. PS. Here is a list of the olympic sports that never ever get broadcasted here outside the olympics: Badminton, Table Tennis, Triathlon, Modern Pentathlon, Sailing, Taekwondo, Waterpolo, Archery, Fencing, Shooting, all winter sports except figure skating. I don't remember a broadcast of even WCh of any these sports.
  16. Never expected this. The team is raided with injuries, even the starting pivot didn't play today because he got injury yesterday. Our coach is a magician, too bad he's leaving for a belarussian club after the WCh.
  17. No, only 3 teams qualify, so you need more than 4 points (=2 wins) I think.
  18. It's simply ridiculous to play field hockey with 15 players. It would be like a handball squad with 11 players. Like in handball, everyone except the keeper (and maybe one defender) is running from end to end all the time. And the hockey pitch is almost 100m long. Football is possible (I guess) but it would become even more pathetic than it already is.
  19. I have zero hope for our team in this competition, the best player is out injured and also our two best right wingers. It's a pity because we played very well at the panam championship. At least many young players will see court time.
  20. Reducing to 15 players a sport which has 11 starters and constant substitutions is simply dumb. I also don't think 17 players would be optimal for a football squad with the amount of injuries and suspensions you see in that sport. As for reductions, I always said I'm against team events of individual sports, so there I guess... Maybe sailing has too many people in windsurf and laser events.
  21. With that condition then it's very difficult for a player from Korea, Japan or Australia to win since all their best players go abroad. All winners will be from KSA, Qatar, UAE and China leagues.
  22. One of our female players signed with Olympique Lyon. The most important news for our women football ever, I think.
  23. There has to be some restriction, otherwise it's impossible to understand how Heung Min Son didn't win.

  25. I read that you have to pay like half a million dollars to host this OQTs. This system is all a scheme from FIVB to collect money from all the rich federations around the world. I wouldn't be surprised if for example Thailand hosts instead of Serbia or in men's if China hosts instead of Canada and Argentina.
