  3. Argentinians at this Asian Cup: coach J. Pizzi coach H. Cuper player Daniel Mustafá (apparently plays for some regional club in the 4th division here). Interesting that Palestine also has several chilean players in their team. There is a strong connection between them and chilean football... there is even a club in their first division called Palestino. I predict the winner will be Japan or Iran. Surprise (maybe SF) will be UAE or Syria.

  5. I lived two magical weeks at the youth olympics. An opportunity to live olympics in my country that probably won't repeat in my lifetime. Other than that I found the sports year boring in general. I don't care much about the winter olympics (also didn't help that our tv didn't broadcast it for the first time in two decades) and Argentina performed TERRIBLE in all my favorite summer sports. So, I'll make an average and say "satisfactory"
  6. I absolutely hate these last week of december/first week of january. I'm on vacation so I have lots of time to watch tv yet there is NOTHING interesting to watch. Only european league matches which I don't really care about and some garbage tennis tournaments. Ok, back to watching series I guess...

  9. She's been under investigation for like 5 years already. And in various cases, not just one. And no, she doesn't have the power to kill anyone. At least not anymore. Anyway, nothing ever happens with these investigations for corruption in Argentina, they are a joke. Some previous president (Carlos Menem) was sentenced back in 2001 for corruption and he was imprisoned only for one year and in his house lol.

  11. I was expecting River would play bad today, they "partied" too much after the final the other day. Still, they had many chances to score but just wasn't the day and their CBs had a terrible match.
  12. The Polo player in question is the best player in the world. Although Polo is not exactly very competitive worldwide.
  13. Yesterday was the ceremony for Olimpia awards, the most traditional award ceremony for sport in Argentina, voted by sport journalists. There is a prize given to the best athlete in each sport in the year (both olympic and some non olympic sports). Among all the winners from each sport one is voted the argentine sportsperson of the year (the "Olimpia de oro"). The winner of 2018 was some local category car racer It was a weak year for our sport in general but there was still a bit of controversy because handballer Diego Simonet didn't win the award after winning the champions league and being MVP of the final with Montpellier. These journalists have a tendency to vote for the popular sports most of the time (in argentina that would be football, tennis, auto racing, pro boxing). They usually vote smaller sports for the big award only if someone was world or olympic champion but sometimes not even that! In 2012 they snubbed our only gold medalist in London for some pro boxer that won a shitty world title.
  14. Real Madrid will have a lot of problems against Ajax. Maybe they will improve from here to february but still it won't be easy. 80% chances is just not realistic for this Madrid. 70% for Roma vs Porto is also too much. Roma is slight favorite but they are not that good. I think you overrate teams according to their leagues. I agree about the other matches except I think Atletico is a bit favorite against Juventus. The italians don't play that well despite having Ronaldo and leading the league by 100 million points.
  15. IMPORTANT -Remember that still some of these teams could fail to reach the play-offs. Especially those that have to qualify through world hockey series. -As you can see the biggest loser in the ranking is France, since they are forced to play bigger teams. After their great performance in WC I thought they would reach a higher ranking but I was wrong. Still, the difference with the next ranked team (China) is only 4 points. The good news for France is that China esentially won't have any opportunity to win ranking points other than the hockey series. Meanwhile France will play both hockey series and European division II championship. If they perform well in these competitions they will surpass China for sure (and remember, there is still the possibility that China fails to qualify for the play-offs at the hockey series).
  16. FIH released new men's world ranking after world cup: 1- 2- 3- 4- 5- 6- 7- / 8- 9- 10- 11- 12- 13- 14- 15- 16- 17- 18- 19- 20- Remember the ranking is important for the seeding of OQ play-offs. There will be 7 play-off matches (14 teams total). Let's make a simulation of what would it look like if Australia, Argentina and Belgium win their continental ch. Japan doesn't participate ofc, and I will also assume South Africa will reject the african quota but still participate in the play-offs.   17. @Benolympique world champion Poland won't qualify in men's volleyball? Also Venezuela in women's??? I can't remember the last time they won a match vs Argentina, Colombia or Peru. Their team is extremely weak lately.
