Here's something I've been working on the past few days.  A one-stop-shop database for international events, as well as continental and national events pertinent to the USA.

    https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12JKUCf5rHHGSfmdMYvEgzKA04n2aF76jPDWUY849B9I/edit?usp=sharing

    Features:

    Tab 1 - Calendar

All columns filter-able to find anything specifically.

    Column A. Start Date
    Column B: End Date
    Column C: Sport
Column D: Discipline Code (using the list on the Sports tab) - Use this to find when a specific event will be contested
    Column E: Contest Title
Columns F-R: For events that have passed, you should be able to click a + box on the left to expand and see results for that event.  You have which place, name, and IOC code.
Also Column Q will link to highlights/replays of the event, usually on YouTube.
    Column S: City
    Column T: Country
    Column U: I = International event, C = Continental event, N = National event

    Tab 2 - Links
Links to official sites, FB, Insta, and YouTube for each of the federations, as well as dates of championships for easy viewing

    Tab 3 - Sports
List of all medal events in LA28, given a code for ease of filtering/searching

It's not finished...I've done 18 sports out of 40something.  Will be working on it the next few weeks.  I tried to focus on those sports that are contested now.

If you want to take it and add your own continental/national events, that's fine.  I have a couple of other tricks/tips if you want to build your own.

Also, for events like Squash, Badminton, Tennis, and Equestrian, where there are a lot of international events, I tended to only take the top few tiers (like WTA 1000, 750, and 500, but nothing less for tennis).

Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.

Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).

We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).

While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.

Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.

Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...

Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    Some changes that I've noticed:

3x3 Basketball: With the expanded 12 team field, one extra team per gender qualifies through world rankings, one extra team qualifies through the universality driven tournament and there's now an Olympic Qualifier series to award the final quotas.

Beach Volleyball: Continental qualifiers have have priority over the World championship and World Rankings quotas and there's now Olympic Qualifier Series quotas.

Canoe Sprint: World ranking system now in place and will be used instead of awarding world championship quotas.

Road Cycling: 2 nations ranking quotas per gender moved to universality.

Track Cycling: Sprint and Keirin ranking list is now combined and will award 14 quotas per gender. Previously it was 7+7. Team pursuit down to 8 quotas from 10. 2 of the quotas have been moved to madison (one additional team) and 6 to the omnium.

Fencing: Can get a Continental quota of you finished in the top 24 of the rankings. It was previously top 16.

Hockey: 2 pro league quotas replace two qualification tournament quotas.

Judo: 5 less universality places and 4 more Continental places. For men, there's two more spots for Asia, one less for Oceania and 1 more for the Americas. For the women, there's one more spot for Europe, one less for Oceania and two more for Asia.

Modern Pentathlon: Less quotas awarded through world rankings as a result of quota cuts.

Open Water Swimming: Introduction of world ranking qualifier.

Sailing: In general, seems to be more quotas awarded at the last chance regatta and less quotas at the World Championships

Shooting: One less quota handed out at each World Championship and the return of World Cup qualifiers.

Swimming: Olympic qualification and consideration times renamed to A and B standard. B standard is now 1% slower than the A standard compared to 0.5% in 2024. Stroke 50s have their own direct qualification events and have minimum time standards instead of A and B standards. Qualification times have been nuked again. B standard selection process has also changed.

Volleyball: New revised format. Continental championships first, then world championships followed by world rankings. In 2024, it was 3 qualification tournaments and then world rankings. Only 3 countries per gender will qualify by world rankings now compared to 5 in 2024
