  1. Miami 1000 has started today; Marta Kostyuk beat Elisabetta Cocciaretto in R1 so we have the high drama R2 match vs Anastasia Potapova coming next. We could have some ugly scenes in that one if things boil over, Potapova is hardly as anonymous as Gracheva who played Kostyuk in the Austin final three weeks ago.
  2. Could be one of the worst ends Anna Hasselborg has ever played (at least from what I've seen). Germany take FIVE stones and win 9-3 with one end scratched. Polish commentator said the Jentzsch rink lost 11 straight matches vs Hasselborg before?
  3. Top nations have the resident problem that newcomers are blocked by veterans who can keep up the relative high standard for several years even if they're #5 or #6 on the depth chart. Sometimes there comes a fortunate break with a pregnancy pause or it has to get drastic like the Italians did with Sanfilippo to make room for the youngsters. It's never a problem for minor biathlon nations where talented & successful juniors can immediately move into World Cup level full-time (see Żuk in Poland, Davidova in Czech Republic or Todorova in Bulgaria).
  4. Elena Rybakina wins Indian Wells 1000 beating Aryna Sabalenka 7-6(11) 6-4 in the final. Definitely the two most in-form players to sit behind Świątek in the rankings. If Wimbledon virtual points counted then Rybakina would be #3 in the rankings on merit.
  5. Final World Cup standings for women: 1. Simon 1093 2. Wierer 911 3. Vittozzi 882 4. Herrmann-Wick 874 5. E. Oeberg 764 6. Tandrevold 731 7. H. Oeberg 710 8. Chevalier-Bouchet 670 9. Davidova 668 10. Hauser 604 ... 51. Żuk 82 64. Jakieła 36 77. Mąka 15
  6. Oeberg wins ahead of Olsbu and Chevalier-Bouchet who denies Kebinger a maiden podium.
  7. Herrmann can still 3rd place in the overall from Vittozzi?
  8. Meltdown for Jeanonnot but Olsbu 5/5 in the fog...
  9. Win #88 for Shiffrin to close out the season. Maryna G-D in 8th place
  10. Klinec 223.5 in the 2nd round and wins Raw Air overall. Two other jumps over 200 meters in the 2nd round - Loutitt 225.0 and Opseth 207.5. The wind could have been better but this is the nature of this sport.
  11. Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel in 4th place after GS 1st run in Soldeu
  12. Yes, it was in the later session. I wonder if they let them use the higher gate tomorrow since technically 230 meters is suddenly feasible
  13. Grotian 5/5 in the prone and only 9.8 behind...
  14. Joanna Jakieła 9/10 and has a rare chance to score points
  15. Petra Vlhova wins the final slalom in Soldeu. First career podium for Leona Popovic in 2nd place
  16. Alexandria Loutitt with the new women's distance record of 222.0 meters Maren Lundby (212.5) and Ema Klinec (203) also over the 200 meter mark in third training session.
  17. Silje Opseth (186.5) won the first training. Also Loutitt (186.5) and Ito (182.5) over 180 meters.
  18. De Cler is only 19 years old, this is surely going to end up bad for someone and I believe it will be bad for the boxer herself.
  19. Can FIE ban the yellow & blue shoes?
  20. Are you ready for AO final rematch though? Elena Rybakina beat Iga Świątek 6-2 6-2 in the second SF.
  21. Men's pursuit and women's sprint are put either side of the cross-country races in Falun. Since Norway can control the Holmenkollen schedule I'm pretty sure they want to avoid TV window clash.
  22. Women's pursuit cancelled like expected. New bibs for the sprint and suddenly everyone goes in Group 1 again Grotian with #71.
  23. I'm pretty sure today's sprint was scheduled so late so it didn't clash with the World Cup cross-country races in Falun. Norwegian TV probably wanted to avoid the overlap. There was no cross country yesterday so men's sprint was not affected.
  24. Women's sprint is postponed for Saturday. Probably no pursuit then.
  25. Start postponed by 30 mins due to fog Here are the men's 2023/24 quota. Due to Russia and Belarus ban some teams obviously profited with extra quotas. On the flip side is Slovakia who had didn't even make Top 20 for the first time in XXI century @hckošice
