  1. Other than Waites & Harms I don't know anyone who over-extended their BDO stay. I have some Ted Hankey flashes from years gone by but he fizzled out in PDC rather fast IIRC.

I suppose PDC has some Q-schools in place but the turnover value will be high.

I guess those traditional UK sports like snooker or darts were forced to go international in wake of the tobacco advertising ban? Embassy used to sponsor both darts & snooker and I have no clue where they get their money from these days (other than betting sites).

Thing is, BDO does have a role. That role is just not to try and be the top level of darts...

It's way more in making it easy for people to play, since that's way too expensive in the PDC.

I accidentally stumbled upon news that BDO folded two months ago. It was obvious they lost the PDC battle for the stars of the game but what happens with these casual second-tier players who used BDO as a step on the ladder? Either darts become more top-heavy or even more international now?

  3. Business as usual. Funny how these mass shootings only happen in the liberal Western countries? :coffee:

French secularism forces police to guard the churches which is hilarious given the state secularism itself. Bastille wasn't brought down for police to guard the priests some 200 years later   And now Austria joins the fun as well.

  4. Patriots fell to 2-5 after Cam Newton fumble cost them a shot at the game-tying FG vs Bills. Newton was one play away from beating the Seahawks in W2 but he's been absolutely horrible in October and it's rather clear he won't be offered a long-term deal after this season.

Meanwhile Raiders are 4-3 after beating Browns 16-6 in weather conditions called "graupel" :p Apparently even Americans don't use this word too often and don't know the full meaning :d

  5. Chase Elliott won at Martinsville and advances into championship four along with Logano, Hamlin & Keselowski.

Kevin Harvick has 9 wins, 20 Top 5s, 26 Top 10s, O DNF and misses out. That's one example how stupid this Playoff chase system really is.

Harvick would have had like 4 titles under the pre-2004 points system (including 2020) IIRC. He only has one in the gimmick Chase system.

It'd be a little sad for Kvyat to be replaced right when he's starting to get something good going. I wonder if Albon will ever get a chance there...Gasly did and that has helped him greatly, he's a very steady racer now. Such bad luck for both Verstappen and Gasly today, and as is so often the case, Hamilton got a lucky win again indeed.

Kvyat is only 26 but this is his 6th full season already. A little too late to consider him a starter. It's a miracle that he was given another chance anyway which had more to do with the Red Bull Academy fizzling out and Brendon Hartley proving to be a complete wash.

Albon was supposed to be in Formula E before the F1 call-up. He should enjoy another chance there but it's becoming quite clear he doesn't have what it takes to succeed in a top F1 team. Stoffel Vandoorne had like the most impressive GP/F2 resume in the last decade and he bounced off the superior teammate wall in F1.

Yuki Tsunoda will be signed just to make Honda happy enough not to give up on the project like two months into the season. They are going out anyway and Red Bull can't afford to waste a whole season several months in advance.

  7. Hamilton wins at Imola after a lucky virtual safety car timing gave him a free pitstop.

Verstappen spun out of second after a tyre failure and master choker George Russell crashed under safety car while running in the points.

Alex Albon also choked after the restart and spun all on his own. I wonder if Perez has a shot at replacing him at Red Bull next season?

Daniil Kvyat finished 4th but it looks like Yuki Tsunoda will be in that AlphaTauri next season since even BBC talked about it on air.

  8. Islam won't back off. France's "secular values" mean shit to them. Of course there will be more murders like that and in 20 years time we will barely shrug shoulders over this like with these mass shootings in USA. France's society seems more afraid of Marine Le Pen than Islamist terrorists anyway :p

I think it's mostly surprising that there is only one Protestant on the court vs. six Catholics, given that the majority of American Christians are some flavour of Protestant and given that there has only been a single Catholic president in American history (Joe Biden would, if elected, only be the second Catholic president).

As for Asians on the high court, Trump seriously considered Amul Thapar and Obama seriously considered Sri Srinivasan (who is currently the DC Circuit Chief Judge, meaning he is the most senior member of the judiciary branch other than the Supreme Court justices). Jacqueline Nguyen had also been floated as a potential Obama pick for the Supreme Court.

To be honest if Biden is elected and gets to appoint two Justices I wouldn't be surprised at all if he nominates Srinivasan (Ketanji Brown Jackson would be all but a lock to replace Breyer).

Jews also are having a field day in the Court. Before this latest tenure there were only five Jewish judges in history and with Breyer, Kagan and Bader Ginzburg there were three at the same time. Dare I say the liberal Protestants got so carried away with all the equality talk they completely missed how Catholics & Jews have dominated the Supreme Court in XXI century

I'm pretty sure Sotomayor's gender and ethnicity was more important than her religion. And Trump follows the same path now, with Coney Barrett he picks a woman and that silences like half of the liberals who want women empowerement on the spot.

Not really. I haven’t really met anyone who has major issues with Catholics. Generally the only people who hate on Catholicism are people who were Catholic themselves, and are now Atheist or Agnostic. Like @NearPup said, it’s the Evangelicals and Mormons who get labeled as such.

    Yeah...definitely no.

Yes, that is why I posted that article, but you don’t quite have the reasoning correct. The 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees religious freedom, so having a Supreme Court that’s two-thirds one religion seems like an issue to me. I wouldn’t want 6 Muslim judges on the Supreme Court either for the exact same reason.

Yeah but since when religious freedom equals to democracy of the religion itself? If you want to force a religious choice just because it should be balanced (like 3 Catholics, 3 Muslims & 3 Jews) then its no longer a freedom of religion to begin with.

Democracy wants to control so many choices by default it actually destroys the freedom of choice its supposed to protect.

Rejecting a judge because he displays the wrong faith and "we have too many Catholics" on the Court doesn't sound too democratic at all.

The biggest myth for me is why there were no Asian-Americans every appointed to the Court. Probably USA is scared of having a Chinese mole there or the anti-Japanese bias is bigger than the anti-Catholic bias.

There is no stereotype of Catholics being particularly conservative in the US - Catholics are all over the ideological spectrum and Catholics vote roughly in line with Americans at large. This is very unlike some other religious groups in the US, such as Evangelicals, Mormons or Anglicans (overwhelmingly Republicans) or Unitarians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus and non-religious voters (overwhelmingly Democrats) that have very clear political leanings.

My impression is that in the Anglo-Saxon world Catholics get viewed as "conservative" or "bigoted" all the time tbh. That's the stereotype and Catholicism is viewed as more religious extreme than Islam.

Olympian1010 posted this tweet to clearly indicate that having 6 Catholics on the Supreme Court would be a bad thing (since he never posts anything positive about conservatives), I imagine having 6 Muslim judges would be a sign of religious tolerance though :p
