  2. My final team: Eckhoff (c), Wierer, Davidova, E.Oeberg, Alimbekava JT Boe (c), Desthieux, Eberhard, Samuelsson, Latypov Transfers out: Olsbu, Zuk (sic), Vita Semerenko, Doherty, Rastorgujevs (forced by the suspension) Obviously I can see three reasons why I finished 8th (after being stuck in bottom three for 1,5 months during the season so I deffo gained on the transfers but the damage was done in January in particular). 1. Having Olsbu instead of Eckhoff as the Norwegian female entry until World Championships. 2. Foolish idea Kamila Zuk can become a reliable Top 30 point scorer (thankfully replaced by Alimbekava soon enough) 3. Whiffed on the old guard Eberhard and Semerenko badly. They appear to be done. It's funny, I had Samuelsson in my team from Day 1 to last in the previous season (not a great result in the end) and only added him mid-way through in 2021. He had a season this time I thought he'd have last campaign!
  3. Well, it was about time USA reminded us why it's the land of mass shootings. Even COVID can't keep that away for too long. If there are no blacks or Asians among the victims nobody will care about that shooting anyway IMO.
  4. But this case proved he can get away with it and that's the most important thing. He's not gonna lose his job over meddling with any court proceedings IMO. Hail to the democracy! If Trump called him to lock Meng up and he obeyed then he's just a mere servant on the global scale. And even Joe Biden would know that right now.
  5. Trudeau survived the attorney general interference so it's rather clear he can get involved and get away with it https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/aug/14/trudeau-broke-ethics-law-in-snc-lavalin-case-watchdog-rules
  6. Retaliation is an old weapon in politics. Besides USA & Canada think that whatever China does is a sham so why should China care about appearances anymore? They simply don't. Trudeau is a second league player on the Chinese chessboard anyway.
  7. Making moves to please chief Chinese critic Donald Trump worked short-term but now you're dealing with long-term effects. Trudeau won the 100m dash but China is running in the marathon And USA is still trying to navigate the Nord Stream 2 mine field. You just can't put China and Russia out of business by bringing a knife to a gunfight.
  8. John Crichton-Stuart better known as Johnny Dumfries passed away at the age of 62. Still best known as Ayrton Senna's Lotus teammate in 1986 (only because Senna vetoed the hire of Derek Warwick). Winner of Le Mans 24 hours in 1988.
  9. We had our President and Zbigniew Boniek working the Germans over so Lewandowski didn't have to quarantine after playing at Wembley. And it worked. All German-based players will now play vs England in London. It seems like Slovakia doesn't have such football big wigs to force Germany's hand?
  10. Canada started this by arresting Meng Wanzhou in 2018. Everything after that is simple payback. If you want to start economical war with China prepare for casualties
  11. The fact @Werloc skipped Poland in his lenghty review pretty much indicates the ugly truth - yeah, we have regressed badly. And the reward is Adam Kolodziejczyk is back like Freddy Kruger just before the Olympic season. Quite frankly we can even do worse next season
  12. So, is Vlhova more popular than some canoeists in Slovakia right now? I can't give any names since I only remember Martikan and the Hochschorners rather then the current generation I'd say it's a dead heat with Sagan? Or some ice hockey players from NHL?
  13. Zuzulova missed one OG in her prime and was severly hampered in the other IIRC? Didn't she like got injured right before 2009 WCh? Can't compare Zampa's AC result, even Poland got 5th place in AC in Nagano 1998 which was a total low-hanging fruit I wonder if the Beijing slope will be a similar dud to the one in Pyeongchang? I really don't have high hopes for these non-traditional OG venues in alpine skiing. The big question is how far Liensberger takes her new found slalom dominance? She could be unstoppable in the Olympic season. And she deffo won't bother with speed events.
  14. I presume that's a gold medal though? She looked anything but happy with the silver medals in Cortina this year I don't believe she will skip any slaloms & GS on purpose though. That carries a risk of being out of race shape. Plus nobody knows what kind of slopes we'll have in Beijing? All it takes is another frost attack like in Pyeongchang and half of the contenders will be caught out by the conditions alone.
  15. Does anyone even read what's written on these globes?
  16. Maryna Gasienica-Daniel will finish in Top 10 here. Obviously a big result for such alpine skiing pariahs like Poland
  17. Poland had Justyna Kowalczyk in cross country. And it's not like she had a private jet like Vlhova. Or Poland ever had a complex like Jasna. We had 5 km of cross country slopes in all of Poland that were Universiade level Girardelli is an Austrian, it's impossible to compare him to Vlhova or Kowalczyk in cc.
  18. Why bother? She got screwed big time with the weather so what's the point of her competing anymore?
  19. Sorry to barge in but could someone translate in like two lines what is said in this video? Guy missed a fight because of an arm injury? I suppose it's some French since the guy is from Senegal https://www.instagram.com/p/CMp-XD4Dho5/
  20. Liensberger wins by 1,24 and takes the slalom globe.
  21. Well, no way Vlhova gets more weather luck next year so I presume Slovakians can enjoy the moment Shiffrin takes the lead. Vlhova will not win the slalom globe.
  22. Vlhova misses out by 0,04 on Hector of all people Overall in the bag.
  23. Hauser, Tandrevold, Persson and P.Fialkova all 9 misses but still scoring points Todorova 15th - second best career-result.
