  1. Verstappen wins at Imola ahead of Perez in Red Bull 1-2. LeClerc was running 3rd but spun late in the race and only finished 6th. Sainz got taken out by Ricciardo on the first lap. Russell finished 4th while Hamilton only 13th and lapped on merit. Mercedes might not have the pace to fight for wins but the car isn't as bad as Hamilton's results indicate so I wonder if his usual bitching will be toned down since he's #2 driver in the team atm
  2. 2022 Snooker World Championships has started and Yan Bingtao beats reigning champion Mark Selby 13-10 in Round 2. This match featured a 85 minute frame that was longest in Crucible Threate history.
  3. Verstappen won the Imola sprint after passing LeClerc late in the race. Mercedes are completely nowhere on pace this weekend so the season might truly be a write-off unless they bring some major updates for Barcelona.
  4. Miguel Cabrera scored his 3,000th hit today. Only the 33rd player in MLB history to achieve that feat.
  5. Flavio Paixao became the first foreigner to score at least 100 goals in Polish Ekstraklasa.
  6. Does US public want to ban Russian players from NHL? Or is Ovechkin & co. still roaming the ice rinks?
  7. WTA follows suit and criticizes the Wimbledon decision. Guess Boris Johnson trying to win back some votes lost in the pandemic ain't gonna be popular outside of UK. Martina Navratilova also condemned the decision.
  8. ATP rips Wimbledon (and UK government who had to have a say in this) for this decision:
  9. Russian & Belarussian players are banned from Wimbledon. https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/61161016 Obviously Russians competing for Kazakhstan (Rybakina, Putintseva) will be allowed to take part.
  10. No excuse for Maren Lundby anymore. She said women are build better to reach longer distances than the men. Now it's time to put that into action Realistically ca. 15 female jumpers have a chance of reaching 200m. And half of them are Slovenians. Those jumpers who struggle to reach 100m on a big hill probably won't even reach 150m on a ski-flying hill IMO.
  11. Stefanos Tsitsipas defends the Monte Carlo title over Davidovich-Fokina in the final
  12. Apparently the 2022/23 World Cup calendar will only be approved at the FIS Congress in May. The delay is over major changes to the calendar. With Maribor out it also appears that Ga-Pa will no longer hold the men's DH either. The Zermatt DH will happen one week after Soelden on the last weekend of October (men) and first weekend of November (women). FIS is about to admit failure on the unfair parallel courses crap (yay!) and have only two scheduled in the next season (one in Lech). Instead the previously estranged combined is set for a major comeback however in new format. There will be DH + Super G "speed combined" and GS + SL "technical combined" proposed next season.
  13. Joachim Streich (football) - record holder for DDR national team caps & goals scored + 1972 OG bronze medallist passed away at the age of 71.
  14. Hawks beat Cavaliers 107-101 while Pelicans upset Clippers on the road 105-101 in a wild game that had multiple 20 point swings. Hawks get to play East #1 seed Heat and Pelicans will try to avoid getting pulverized by West #1 Suns.
  15. Mike Bossy who scored 50+ goals in 9 NHL seasons (despite having retired at age 30!) died of lung cancer at the age of 65.
  16. Valarie Allman 71,46m in San Diego. That's better than Perkovic's PB by 5 cm and the longest throw in women's discus since 1992 (when you consider that was from a Chinese during the tortoise soup heyday the longest before that was Wyludda throwing 72-74 meters in 1989 ).
  17. Desai Williams has passed away at the age of 62. The first of the 1988 Seoul 100m finalists to die.
  18. In 2050 China will be the world's biggest economy anyway. Reducing the labor costs in USA and closing down all human labor factories and de-industrialization of the whole country will only result in higher un-employment rate. China has given the USA what they want in reducing the work cost for years and they will eventually cash in on the long run. It's only a matter of time.
  19. Lakers missed the playoffs and fired HC Frank Vogel Play-in games have started. Nets beat Cavaliers 115-108 and Timberwolves beat Clippers 109-104 to qualify outright. The losers will still have a chance if they beat #9 vs #10 game winners.
  20. lost to 1-2 so we are basically out of play-off hopes (2pts behind Belgium with one more game played).
  21. Baserga in the B-team? What are the Swiss waiting for?
  22. I saw the men made the last four and also won a medal in the end. Guess curling can become a real hoopla for the home crowd in 2026 OG and the mixed gold in Beijing won't exactly be a one-off
  23. Magda Linette & Andreja Klepac win the Charleston doubles title
  24. Leclerc wins in Melbourne by 20 secs ahead of Perez and Russell. Verstappen out with another mechanical failure. Sainz spun off on the second lap so it looks like Ferrari has a clear championship #1 driver after three rounds already.
