  1. Is there anyone out there tracking countries that have met the Alpine Olympic standard already? There have been enough SAC races for it to be possible I think.
  2. Fifa just posted 'FT' it is officially over
  3. FIFA is not yet calling it a final score, could there be some official appeal going on?
  4. I wonder who will replace Hurkacz in the draw, with the time frame it would have to be someone already there wouldn't it?
  5. why are you saying that this is according to wikipedia, it is not. Do you mean that it is your own creation based on the rankings from there?
  6. So raonic is in at 33, and Kwon Soon-woo is in at 80. I am trying to figure out who in the middle that wiki lists is not.
  7. So the official timeline is here: https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/Olympic-Games/Paris-2024/Paris2024-QS-Tennis.pdf but not on that document is the fact that the ITF has said that they will publish a full list on July 4th here: https://www.itftennis.com/en/events/olympics-paris-2024/entry-list/
  8. Also there is the prospect of Raonic, who said he wanted to go to the Olympics but has not confirmed it, O'Connell that wiki lists as not eligible, Djere who seems to have indicated he is not going, Cilic who could use PR but with the recent surgery that seems really unlikely. Too many moving parts to be certain of the final few qualifiers.
  9. According to the wiki list Nagal would have to wait for the reallocation process (57th is the reallocated host spot) so saying that he is an alternate makes good sense.
  10. And Andreescu has told sportsnet that she was hopeful that her 64PR would get her in. https://www.sportsnet.ca/wta/article/bianca-andreescu-preparing-for-return-to-court-has-sights-on-playing-in-olympics/ The statement from the Japanese Olympic Committee appears to say that Osaka is going to use the legacy quota https://www.joc.or.jp/news/20240613034804.html but that would not make sense now. I guess I am saying that if Osaka and Kerber have to use PR, then probably Andreescu does as well. And what has happened to Halep, I thought she was trying to make a comeback.
  11. The BBC story says that Raducanu turned down the legacy spot which is strange and has two consequences that I can see: 1st, Osaka must be using her PR if Wozniacki is a legacy qualifier, 2nd: who else would take it then? So maybe another reallocated quota for the women's side.
  12. this article makes it look like Raonic is going to play in the Olympics, maybe? Not sure what to conclude from it: https://opencourt.ca/2024/06/11/milos-raonic-return-grass-olympics-pterygium/
  13. No, what I am saying is that the list is incorrect, it should be Kerber based on the qualifying criteria. She has more grand slam wins than Wozniacki.
  14. He is in the last spot, unless players use protected rankings and push him out of it. He has not, as the article says, clinched anything. Because there will be withdrawals is it very likely he is in anyway but this article just looks like someone read the wikipedia page and decided it was final. It is not.
  15. This story came out today: https://olympics.com/en/news/paris-2024-olympics-indian-tennis-ranking-quotas-sumit-nagal-rohan-bopanna which for Nagal does not make much sense to me.
  16. Why is it Wozniacki not Kerber for the legacy spot?
  17. The article explains that. He says that it is the surface that is the problem and that he wants to be fit and ready for the grass court season to rebuild his rankings.
  18. Shapovalov was going to use protected ranking but has decided to rest his knee. https://tennistonic.com/tennis-news/720016/injured-denis-shapovalov-will-not-play-the-french-open-doubles-and-the-olympics/
  19. No, there may be players using protected ranking that could bump him down the list.
  20. I have been calculating weekly and I have her in the final spot (57th) right now. I include Korpatsch and Mertens which wiki says are not eligible but I do not know. Protected rankings make it a challenge as well, Andreescu has stated that she will use PR, but not confirmed yet. Sherif using the continental place helps but it will be close.
  21. Okay, thank you. Was not sure how Navone was eligible and was trying to figure out what effect it would have if he wasn't.
  22. You are probably right, she still has a chance if she wins in La Marsa this week though. I believe that would put her at 159 points which should (just barely) be inside the top 400. Does not seem likely, but if she wins a couple of rounds it will get exciting I think.
  23. So is it for sure that Thiago Monteiro of Brazil qualifies? There are four Argentines in the top 56 ahead of Diaz Acosta, but I was wondering what if one of them is not eligible or does not want to go. Would this mean the fourth Argentine spot goes to Acosta as a reallocated quota with Monteiro qualifying, or does Diaz Acosta retain his ITF spot?
  24. TSN broadcast is so irritating, they keep saying that Japan has to win in regulation time to avoid relegation. You would hope for such an important game they would understand the rules. I feel embarrassed for them, they made it even worse by saying that Denmark only needs one point. If they get one point either Japan or China advances. Somebody quietly got it right by saying that Japan just needs one more goal to relegate China, but does not seem to want to argue or correct on air I guess.
  25. 'inside the games' writers are notoriously uninformed, and often just plain wrong. Blog posts more than news.
