Gold medal in a quadrennial event vs a win in an event that doesn't mean that much in itself (being DL champion in event X should be winning a ranking after a season, not just winning one specific competition), perfectly understandable and sensible choice.

Btw Spanovic also pratice triple jump but she doesn't want to compete   Even Christian Taylor told her to try but she said it was not realistic now (she had few videos on her instagram)

Even more surprising (for me), I had no idea Ibarguen is also a very talented high jumper, with a 1.93 PB and very good results in the juniors and in South American competitions until not that long ago

Ivana's PB in triple jump is 13,78  Most jumpers could easily compete in both disciplines if they wanted to.
