Unless there is some miracle, it will be the first time Greece is not represented in archery at the Olympics since 1996.

It's already going to be the first time since 1964 that we won't be represented in weightlifting, and first time since 1984 that we won't be represented in rhythmic gymnastics.

Not to mention our men's water polo team almost didn't qualify for the first time since 1976. So embarrassing to see our decline.

Archery is unpredictable but greece is quite a lot away from the best sadly. Even Phillipines and Mongolia are better. Funding issues?

Probably funding issues but also a lack of interest in the sport. Our legend Evangelia Psarra competed at the last 5 Olympics, however she has regressed a lot as she is getting older so I don't expect her to qualify this time around. And there's really no one else after her it seems. We had a girl at the 2010 Youth Olympics who won a medal in a mixed team event, but she seems to have disappeared.

Aside from Psarra, Elpida Romantzi is our only archer to have qualified for the Olympics in recent memory (excluding Athens 2004 of course). Romantzi reached the round of 16 in Beijing and seems to have retired after. A shame because she was only 27 years old in Beijing. Psarra competed in Rio at age 42. Romantzi is 39 now, turning 40 next month.

Nevermind, I already found the entry list: https://www.ianseo.net/TourData/2021/8757/ENC.php

For the Oceanian Continental, only :AUS from Oceania is there (2 women). So the women's quota is for them, but what about the men's one??

Wasn't there a rule a min. Number of countries has to compete?

Wow, incredible that we aren't sending anyone. We just sent a full team to the European qualifiers. Sad that Psarra isn't getting one last chance to make it to her sixth consecutive Olympics. She had only a very small chance anyways, but after this it seems like Greek archery is dead. This is the final nail in the coffin. A shame because I actually like the sport

I see GKORILA Anatoli Martha and PSARRA Evangelia into entry list

    • 2 things...   first, for what concerns the cooperation between inline skating and speedskating federations...sorry to disppoint some of you, but there's a great cooperation between them   the point is that many "summer" skaters just don't want to try the ice because they have too much to give up for that   you name places like Collalbo or Baselga, but for the "summer skating" guys from centeral and southern regions it's not an option, it's not that they make it for a living with those disciplines, they have to focus on their studies and build a post-competitive sport career and they just can't place themselves into a hole in the mountains when they maybe are studying in some prestigious universities in the big cities   as I already posted more than once, the idea of covering one of those tracks in the mountains was something idiotic, a political concession impossible to be sustained   the one and only chance to build a true legacy and an efficient, attractive national training center was to build a permanent indoor oval in Milan, beside the Forum   that would have given all the "summer skaters" a true opportunity to try the ice experience and at the same time find the most useful, attractive, prestigious places to continue their studies and try and manage them together with their sports career   any other place wouldn't stand a chance   second...don't give Salvini any credit he doesn't deserve...actually, I think he doesn't even know that in Cortina there's a sliding sports track    it's not thanks to him that the Cortina track's building finally went underway
