Women's Volleyball Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games

Recommended Posts

Don't forget Turkey. They already won a silver medal in de VNL last year, have some big talents and the best coach in the world (Guidetti).
My prediction: Serbia, Russia and Italy win a quota in the WOQT; Netherlands, Turkey and Germany fight for the last European spot.

Brazil may be is in trouble for qualification (or any tournament this year) as in just a few days 6 players didn't accept the coach's invitation for the season (including Olympic champions Adenizia, Dani Lins and Thaisa - the latter announced that is now retired from the team). Some are speculating that this is some kind of boycott to the coach, since many players found his decisions "dubious" in the past.

That's the way Polish female NT started to crash down in 2011.

To my knowledge the final European Qualification Tournament was given to Turkey. However, according to Dutch media the Dutch Volleyball Federation still wants to organize this tournament. Wondering if this is still possible.

It has been confirmed by CEV that :NED Apeldoorn will host the European QT on 7-12 January.

Participating teams: NED, TUR, GER, BUL, POL, BEL, CRO, AZE.

That's great News. The men's Tournament in Berlin and the Women's one not far from Germany. Maybe with many german fans rooting for them, one of the two teams will be able to make it. It would be a surprise, bu not impossible.

Great news that The Netherlands organizes the OQT! Still the Dutch team isn't the favourite. They played very bad at the World Cup (only 8th), Turkey will be the favourite (together with Poland).

    • ""The most important thing, in my opinion, is mental preparation" - Maria Vynnyk said this on Thursday after winning the first major gold medal; maybe this is where the secret lies. As you said, Ukrainian girls have always been strong, but not dominant at continental level; my conjecture is that the Russian invasion has made them mentally stronger, giving them that extra edge needed to tilt the balance in the final stages of a competition.
