This is CAS upholding earlier FEI decision.

 

Now we wait for the decision on :SRI Mathilda Karlsson. It would be a scandal if CAS sides with FEI on this case...

Merkulova is the frontrunner (good on both her and Mister X for bouncing back from near career ending fall / injury). Kosterina had a freak debut season in 2017 (17th at the European Championships), but has struggled to recapture similar form recently. Aframeeva despreately wants another Olympics. Klementieva and Maksakova have been shooting stars as of late, Isachkina has a nice horse, while Zakhrabekova stands a chance of getting selected as well.

 

No chance - Volonchunas, Davidova, Ivanova.

:IRL Ireland revealed their longlist for eventing.

 

Cathal Daniels & Rioghan Rua are the only members of the Tryon 2018 silver medal team listed. Ennis, McCarthy and Watson are listed with different horses.

Small update on :PAK Usman Khan...

 

Following the departure of Azad Kashmir, Usman Khan is now working with a new horse Kasheer. Not a bad horse (previously named Riverbreeze and campaigned by Andrew Cooper), but they are up against it.

 

Last month they successfully obtained MER at CCI2*-L level. They still need to obtain it at 4 more levels (CCI3*-S, CCI3*-L, CCI4*-S, CCI4*-L). Literally no mistakes allowed. They just can't afford it.

Any update on Fouaad Mirza? When is the new deadline for achieving MER?

From whatever little I have been able to find about him, he is based in Germany at present and has been taking part in domestic meets.

    • This might be unpopular but it would allow way more sports and quotas and cities to host at a lower cost. 
    • I think Julia Tannheimer will continue to perform so well on the flatter courses in Ruhpolding and Antholz, which will suit her technique. Oberhof will be more exciting, the courses are very demanding, but quite comparable to the World Championships in Lenzerheide. That's why I'm really looking forward to Oberhof this season. Anyone who can cope well with the courses in Oberhof should also be able to run at the front at the World Championships.

    • Thanks for your predictions, they are very interesting.   But here it will be a different format. Combined events - pairs of athletes, one male/female will perform in downhill and other will perform in slalom. E.g. Team SUI 1 Odermatt plus Meillard.
    • Interesting (optimistic) predictions for GB. Don‘t See Them winning 5 golds (more than China and as many as Canada). I think 3 golds are more Realistic (Brookes + 2 in curling/skeleton). Especially gold for Bankes seems To be a rather optimistic prediction, given that Casta is 11 years younger and just beat Bankes.
