Nobody is talking bout Kaisa Makarainen just casually taking two silver medals in the Finnish championship, only losing out to Mari Eder.

I did notice her a few times around the Vuokatti EYOF, but competing again?! Awesome :d (although I assume it stays within the Finnish borders)

Makarainen finished less then 3 secs behind Eder in the MS (admittedly with two less misses) but she was over 2 mins faster than Erika Janka for instance.

Eder won the sprint by 1:47 mins with one miss fewer than Makarainen.

Missing of note is Johannes Dale he is on the B team with the following:

And then be disappointed almost half of the time? :p

But yeah, awesome to see the Individuals and especially to see the SuperSprints stay down in the IBU Cup :d (where I'm not a fan of them neither, IBU Cup should be a very very large part sprints and individuals, with very few relays and basically no pursuits, but alright)

IBU Cup Schedule

Sprint (x11)

Mixed Relay (x4)

Single Mixed Relay (x4)

Short Individual (x1)

Individual (x2)

Pursuit (x4)

Mass Start 60 (x2)

Super Sprint (x2)

I actually like the Mixed Relays here.  This is an understanding that many of the smaller teams would not be competitive, or even be able to field a full relay team.  I also understand the Mass Start 60 at the IBU Cup level.  It provides head to head development for more biathletes.

How did these nations think that they would get away with Flour Wax?  It is pretty obvious when one is using it.  Odd.

QFM was awarded with the French Legion of Honor.  Also Julia Simon will not race this weekend at the French Championships due to her sore knee.

There are a few weeks in December where the races will not be on the traditional weekend spot, the IBU decided to not go up against the World Cup of Soccer.

Simon Eder hinted that he would return for another year a few weeks ago, has now confirmed that he will be back for another season.  "It's still my dream job. I am convinced that I can perform for another year, he explains to VG . I'm still motivated to get into the top 10 once in a while. This must be my goal. It's hard to give up this life as a biathlete, I was a little afraid of that. With family and a few sponsors behind me, I see no reason to stop."

Interesting Promo Event this weekend at Anthlotz, the Red Bull Doro Hunt.   There will be 150 racers, and Wierer will start last.  Every person who gets passed by her is eliminated.  Their will be 5 rounds of 2k each.  To make it Red Bull worthy it will include a slalom section, a hill to climb without poles. an ungroomed section, etc.  It could be interesting.

    • That's so they can play in both venues in Canada.  Will mean that the UEFA Path A winner has to go from Toronto to Los Angeles and then up to Seattle.   Someone was bound to draw the short straw in that group since 4 of the matches are Central, but 2 are in Santa Clara.  Unfortunately, that's Algeria.

    • Ooooooh the group of Canada , they play in Toronto then Vancouver ...look at the distance
    • now the shooting sport takes a little Christmas break and the new season resumes in January with the Asian Championships for the Shotgun specialists ( Doha, Jan. 11th through 22nd)   the World Cup will be back in late March, beginning in  Tangiers (March 25th through April 3rd, Shotgun specialists only)   the Rifle and Pistol specialists will start their new season with the European 10m Championships in  Yerevan (Feb. 27th through March 5th) and the 1st World Cup stage for them will be in  Granada in April (5th through 13th)   300m, 25m and 50m European Champs will be in  Osijek (May 30th through June 21st), meanwhile the Shotgun European Champs will be held in  Athens from Sept. 27th through Oct. 13th
    • Rare thing not to see Hancock winning gold.
    • USA will.play in California then Seattle then California ...why hell this long distance , teams should stay in 1 place , this is tiring even for spectators
    • so, the 2025 season is officially over, after the World Cup Finals have been completed with the Shotgun events, where (once again!!!) a new format for the final stage of each event has been experimented for the first time (before it becomes a regular feature in the next season)   the new format enlarge the starting field in each event's final stage to 8 shooters and dramatically shortens the number of target shots to decide the placings   the only characteristic remaining is the progressive eliminations principle   now, as written above, 8 shooters make the final, where after only 12 targets the eliminations start: by then, the last 2 shooters must leave the competition (7th and 8th ranked)   after 12 more targets (24 in total), 2 more shooters have to leave the final (5th and 6th ranked)   then, the crazy carousel starts: every 4 targets we have a new elimination  so, after 28 targets, the 4th ranked shooter is done; after 32 targets the bronze medallist is known and after only 36 targets (provided there's no need for a shoot-off), compared to the previous 60, the gold and silver medallists are crowned   I guess the tiktok people with the attention span of a chinchilla have won once again
    • Strange schedule  16 june , vs Argentina in kansas city 22 june vs Jordan in san Francisco  27 june vs Austria in kansas city    the Distance San francisco- Kansas 2500km , so they fly 5000km to play 3 matchs
