:EGY Doha Hany will be the first athlete to qualify for 3 events in Olympic badminton, she has helped so many women's singles

The sequence of events happening in WS:

:ESP Marin injured, so the quota was given to next player which is her fellow :ESP Azurmendi

:FIN Mikkela is retired, her quota is given to :GUA Sotomayor

:NED Soraya No.1 who was blocked by Dutch NOC must gave her quota to :EGY Doha Hany

Since Doha Hany has qualified in other events - an extra quota opened and voila - it's a quota for :IRI Soraya No. 2 :p

I think there must be one more withdrawal. Wiki lists :UKR as getting Marin’s quota.

Also, is Hany really planning to play all 3 events? That would mean 8 or 9 matches in 4 days. :yikes:

If I remembered correctly Ulitina already qualified since the original list by the virtue of 4 women players in multiple event (Lauren Smith, Selena Piek, Gronya Somerville, Doha Hany). Ulitina is 42nd in that list, the last spot. The Wiki removed Marin but hasn't added Azurmendi as her replacement.

Badminton England "controversially" selected Lane/Vendy over Ellis/Lamgridge, that means one less person in men's singles

So what's the expected number of Men's and Women's single players respectively? If 38 players, that means 12 groups right?

Currently we have 42 MS and 43 WS which means there will be 14 groups for each singles category

    • Interesting, for only 2 months i think i have seen some kind of coin from all of the big countries - Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, France, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Ireland and yes the 2 euro from Croatia. But some of them were the smaller ones, 10, 5, 2 cents.    Expectedly there aren't any from the smaller countries so far. Nothing from the Baltics, Cyprus, Slovenia, Malta, Andorra etc. But also a bit surprising i haven't seen any from Greece yet.    Don't know from what part of Italy are you, but it's safe to say that when summer hits there will be a lot of Bulgarians visiting Rome, so i'm sure they'll bring some of our coins to spread around.
    • I choose to collect only coins in circulation (and I have also found coins in circulation that should not be on the market; you can find a bit of everything). From my experience, it takes 4-5 years for coins to reach southern Italy, so I have no idea how it will work in Bulgaria. Incidentally, I am curious to see when I will see my first Bulgarian coin. I have not yet seen a Croatian coin (introduced in 2023!).
    • Yes, i saw that there are a lot of commemorative coins. But to get some of those, i would need to buy them, as i don't know how much of them are in circulation. And the chances of such making it to Bulgaria are rather slim.    Still, if i find some sports ones on a good price, maybe i will order a few.

    • Don't know if someone else is collecting Euro coins, but since we joined the zone it's been fun looking at what you can get.    It took only 2 months, but today i finally got my first Slovakian coin.  @hckošice
