why Italy is always such a disaster? why???:facepalm::wall::redcard::spank:

Well, last year they won a bronze at the Europeans (after Krajewski tested positive), so it's not exactly always. :p But it was somewhat frustrating day for them indeed.

If there's a free program in Dressage on Monday, Germany will not take part, and so will probably many other countries, including the hosts: https://www.reiterrevue.de/news/sport/die-chaos-spiele-gehen-weiter-auch-fuer-die-dressur-9798184.html

The article is in German, but here's the summary:

European teams have booked their flights back to Europe on Monday. They don't want to risk having their horses go to a difficult competition first. According to this, the federations proposed a few days ago to have the final competition take place in a hall on Sunday. But the organizers weren't interested enough and now it's too late. According to the article, most federations have complete understanding for the German decision and/or plan to do the same. The Brits won't take part either. And the US federation agrees as well and plans to withdraw their horses out of solidarity.

Tomorrow, the federations will propose to cancel the planned free program.

That's really cool. :d

I also like the story behind :MEX Daniela Moguel. Apparently she knew nothing about horses, but got inspired after seeing a picture of Karen O'Connor jumping a water fence. Today she is competing at WEG with Karen as her coach. :)

I didn't knew that story... wow it's quite interesting.

Sadly, besides football, "sport journalists" don't care about other competitors and their stories.

    • There is a saying to never trust a Russian in gymnastics. Well, ex-Russian turned Bulgarian Elvira Krasnobaeva is transferring now to Armenia.   The "official" reason is for personal, family matters, but in reality it's most likely because she wasn't selected for Paris, which angered her parents. Even though she is only 16, had her breakthrough just this year and started making mistakes, when they amped up the difficulty.   Our Federation's President Iliana Raeva said today, that she received calls also from France and Azerbaijan about Elvira's mother basically auctioning her. Raeva mentioned, that Krasnobaeva was going to be a vocal point in the next Olympic cycle, but now she can hit the road and missed her chance to ever compete for Bulgaria, even if she wanted to in the future.    We are also going to make a new Group from next season. After the disappointment in Paris, 4 out of the 5 girls announced their retirement.
    • true, but was expecting India to get troubles from Australia, not from New Zealand, and specially not by being bowled out. Makes the group phase interesting though
    • The 4th best team in the world beating the 3rd best team in the world is not a huge surprise though.
