Italy's chances in Show Jumping have gone down dramatically in the last few hours...

Alberto Zorzi, in fact, was forced to withdraw from the world competitions because of an injury to his horse Fair Light Van t Heike...:facepalm:

as a consequence, this is the Italian squad for Tryon:

Lorenzo De Luca (right now he still has 3 horses available: Ensor de Litrange, Ironice Horta & Halifax vh Kluizebos)

Luca Marziani (Tokyo du Soleil)

Emanuele Gaudiano (Chalou)

Piergiorgio Bucci ( Diesel GP du Bois Madame)

5th man: Bruno Chimirri (Tower Mouche)

reserve at home until the entries are stopped: Giulia Martinengo-Marquet (Verdine Sz)

Withdrawl in the :IRL Irish eventing team. Aoife Clarke is out, to be replaced by Patricia Ryan.

Not that big of a loss for the Irish, but such a shame that Tim Bourke (initially the first reserve) couldn't step in... :( Tim Bourke would have been the safest bet to go inside the XC optimum time, out of everyone in the entire competition.

@OlympicIRL Apparently someone composed a song about the Irish eventing team headed for Tryon. :d

Haha, this is awesome! I love the camaraderie in Irish eventing, it's nice to see, a very supportive community.

Lots of nice names, but will point out Lisa Marie Fergusson & Honor Me as absolutely brilliant cross-country combination, finally going to their first championships. :cheer:

Final entries for the first week of the Games are out.

Dressage

Endurance

Eventing

Reining

Changes compared to the nominated entries:

  • :LUX Nicholas Wagner withdrew, eliminating Luxembourg completely from the dressage competition. Luxembourg now faces a possible complete withdrawal if their show jumper withdraws too.
  • :BEL Giel Vanhouche withdrew in eventing, leaving Belgium on 3-member team.
  • :ALG:EST:LTU athletes withdrew in endurance, what unfortunately eliminates all 3 nations from the WEG. :(:KUW Kuwait will compete with 2 individuals instead of a team, while :SWE will have a 3-member team.
  • There are no withdrawals in reining.

    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
