Is anyone able to find the apparent change that has been made, due to COVID-19, about the FIS points system? Apparently it's no longer about the best five results in the past 12 months, but the past 24 months, which has quite significant impacts in certain situations.

Ugh, the organizers in Santa Caterina have suddenly changed Sunday's race from distance classic (as it was all the time and at least until yesterday) to distance freestyle, now it won't count in the internal ranking for the Brazilians and so only Saturday's sprint will count for them:facepalm:

Oh well, all-out in tomorrow's freestyle sprint :d

For those interested, the start lists for the sprint qualifying in Santa Caterina can be found under the big blue button here:

A whole lot of participants, as expected led by the strong B-teams from France, Italy and Austria. @brunamoura starts at 10:02, with Jaque Mourão and Mika Picin in the minutes right behind her and Duda Ribera being in the junior race.

As for the Brazilian men: it's Manex Silva in the juniors and Steve Hiestand in the seniors. That's of course a free advantage for Manex, but to be fair, he is quite likely the strongest of all Brazilian men anyway.

Interesting that there's six Brazilians competing, and only one of them can really be seen as 100% Brazilian by now in terms of background/residence and such :p

:BRA:CAN Jaque

:BRA:ITA Mika

:BRA:BAS Manex

:BRA:SUI Steve

:BRA:NED Bruna

Duda had 4:11 in the junior race, slightly behind Mika's time. If I am not mistaken, Duda ends up with 316.81 points and Mika with 345.57 due to being in the senior race (despite being a tad faster). Bruna should get a decent 279.14 and Jaque should end up with an excellent 186.67 points. Again, if I'm not mistaken.

Which would make me say Jaque is the winner of the day in the internal Brazilian battle, but Bruna takes an excellent second spot for now.

My point calculcations were wrong, I calculated the race penalty but forgot to add those  These are correct:

Jaque 239.18
Bruna 331.65
Mika 394.37
Duda 481.84

Steve 265.05
Manex 319.57

15km/10km today, just saw Maurice Manificat win the men's race. He finished in a little over 40 minutes, which is roughly five minutes slower than at the terrible track at the world championships last season...comes to show how godawful the conditions are, combined with an absolutely terrible job by the organizers in terms of preparing the courses :d

Anyhow, only a training race for Bruna today, so there's no pressure or need to perform or anything. Perfect opportunity to work on technique and such.

Duda will end up 4:54 behind the winner, unless Julie Pierrel increases her pace and beats the fastest time, but it's not looking like it so far. Pretty good result for Duda, it's not possible to say exactly yet (as we don't know the full top-5 yet) but it looks like roughly 300 FIS points for her.
