Cross-Country Skiing 2021 - 2022 Discussion Thread

Zlatibor it is for our Totallympian (most likely at least), despite the team's coach trying everything to stop her from going there (because they know that her competing there will make it incredibly hard for the coach's favourite). Snow has been falling quite strongly the past few days and organizers are very confident about the races.

And to give a bit of a sense of the atmosphere and professionalism in this so-called 'team': one of the athletes is sick, but trying to take care by staying away from said athlete, wearing a face mask and so on is only ridiculed and laughed at. Thank the lord they'll fuck off to Zakopane tomorrow, and hopefully from then on things will start falling the fair way.

@heywoodu Looks like they are prepping the course in Ravna Gora.

Interesting, since earlier today 'we' were told that the races are likely to be cancelled....

Do you know if there is any way to contact this TSK Ravno Gorac/Ravnogorac? I tried an email last week, but got no answer.

By the way, she arrived in Zlatibor last night after a 19-hour trip, and this morning was told she wasn't registered for the races by the Brazilian federation. Apparently the 'coach' of the team had told the federation's 'registration guy' "No, nobody is going to Serbia :)". Luckily it seems she managed to solve this right on time with help of the (very friendly and very helpful!) Serbian organization, if she had arrived today it would have been too late...

It's now going to come down to this for the second ticket, basically:

1) Bruna in Zlatibor vs Duda in Zakopane during the week

2) Whoever vs whoever (not sure yet) in Ravna Gora (if not cancelled), Bad Mitterndorf (AUT) or, most likely, Zweisimmen-Sparenmoos (SUI) during the final weekend

Spoiler

The attempt of the 'coach' to quite literally sabotage the Zatibor races for Bruna seem to have failed, but it also does look like Jaque will in fact be too late. Bruna tried everything she could to register Jaque as well this morning when she heard the situation, but wasn't allowed.

Which luckily only seems to mean that Jaque came from Canada to Serbia for nothing...infuriating, massive waste of time and awfully annoying, but not an influence on Jaque's Olympic chances.

Maybe you should try the Facebook? Or try contacting one of the home skiers (for example, Tena Hadžić)?

Also, who told you about the races being cancelled? Is it the federation people? :d

I think she overheard it (or rumours about it) somewhere, but it's important, so you know...trying to go after all available information :d

Sprint results in Zakopane:

292.28 for Duda, replacing her 608 points.

358.66 for Mika, replacing a 394 (but not getting significantly closer to ending up with a sprint average of under 300, and so not much changed there)

Duda now passed Bruna and is 220 points or so ahead, but she was expected to do so after erasing the 608 points in the sprint. Just like Bruna will normally erase her 648 points in a distance race the first chance she gets (which should be tomorrow).

Duda's main point of improvement now is a 481 sprint and a 333 distance, for Bruna it's a 648 distance and 421 sprint.

Wonderful. The next step is that the rest of the team is suddenly also going to Serbia.....which they explicitly said they wouldn't, and so was nothing but another sabotaging move. Thing is, they are too late with the entries (because of the earlier situation in which the federation didn't register anyone), and if they are indeed not allowed to start, according to the federation....neither is Bruna (allowed to start). Which would mean she would have gone to Serbia for literally nothing, other than to miss a race where she could have scored decent points (Zakopane) due to the federation/coach's moves.

This is getting more unbelievable every day, seriously.
