Link - http://indianexpress.com/article/sports/sport-others/indian-mens-archery-fail-to-qualify-for-rio-2016-olympics-2857933/ NOPE !!! Not buying it, this is the same paper that reported India got eliminated when they lost to Brazil. Just like a lot of people on this forum, they are just guessing that Champia shot weak. And the order of shots at the world archery site is definitely not the order in which the arrows were shot...

I think Army can easily repeat their shooting success in Equestrian, Canoeing, Rowing & Sailing. Once they achieve success in these than they should also try for Fencing. In India it will take long long time to establish world class civil (non defence) coaching center for these games. But for defence forces it is not a big problem, as they already have primary facilities for these sports. All these sports have total 42 gold medal events. They can add swimming also. It alone has 34 Gold medal events. Army should have a sports quota for 8-10 year old children, so that those kids who have interest in sports gives full attention to sports, with already making their carrier safe in armed forces. We can produce world champions only if our players gets world class coaching early in their life, as early as 8-10. Awesome! Please send this to sports ministry. There are qualifying tournaments still left..if he wants to compete he can...ask for wild card may be when he tries and loses. At the moment he may not even be the best in India. He may have to have a trial with Vikas or Sumit to determine who is better - Mary has won her trials...he cant ask for a free ride to the olympics when he hasn't even competed in a single qualification event.. And sorry, but how many world titles does Vijender have ?? Really really saddened by this statement... Completely agree. After London Olympics, instead of focusing on boxing, he was busy doing movies and Roadies and then out of the blue became pro just a year before Olympics. If he was so keen about Olympics, why didn't he wait for a year or join the AIBA Pro Boxing league? And now when Vikas and Sumit are very close to Olympic qualification why is he needlessly creating a controversy. I didnt expect this from him. I thought if Vikas and/or Sumit fails to win quota here, he may try to participate in the last qualifying tournament and if needed ask for a trial against Vikas but this statement about bias against him is just sad. Mirabai is in the 48 Kg category and her main rivals will come from just 4 countries - CHN ( almost sure gold ) ...... tough fight with vie , tha, prk for the rest of the medals as china is likely to field just one lifter ................. only advantage may be that she may have sanjita for company in the 48 kg and the two are close which would boost her morale Suneet 1 strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

Totally agree Look at the contrast between 4 Indian Olympic medallists....... Sushil and Vijender ( both are heroes of mine mind you ) did not participate in trials or tournaments .............. suddenly seem to have this attitude I have to be at olympics just a few weeks before the olympics , despite someone else slogging to win a quota Lee and Abhinav on the other hand worked seriously over the last year ....abhinav to get selected to the indian team by participating in the trials , then slogged to get into form and win his own quota ...... lee going to challengers for the first time in god knows how many years to bring his ranking up ................ They win their fair quota at the olympics dudes you are not bigger than the sport and you will have competition for your place daily ........... strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi
