Meanwhile situation in Nepal is highly volatile as "Gen-Z Protestors" there have forced PM to resign. Yesterday, not only was the Parliament and houses of PM and many other politicians burned, many top politicians were beaten by mobs on streets. Wife of an ex-PM was burned alive as well.

Myanmar, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and now Nepal. All governments toppled by either coup or protests in last 5 years. Plus all the drama around Imran Khan in Pakistan.

What`s about Bhutan? It is probably the most closed, but at the same time intrigate country in Asia.

I'm curious if this is truly protest, or is someone messing around in these countries and trying to destabilize them? If the second case, who?

I don't think so. It's peoples reaction to authoritarianism,  nepotism and corruption. In nepal the government banned the social media and provoked the riots. If a European government had done the same what would we have done?

I know that, but for example in Libya there was also a dictatorship, but now it is not better, in fact it is worse.

Btw.: Do you maybe remember the time of the right-wing military coup in Greece, or know anyone who lived there at that time? How is this short period of history viewed in Greece today?

It can be a long discussion..in summary it was a period with political instability during 60s which was used as a pretext for the coup by some low-ranking officers (colonels). What most people don't know is that it had 2 phases.

One 1967-1973 when the dictator in charge Georgios Papadopoulos governed as a prime minister and then tried to transform the regime to semi-democratic.

The 2nd phase 1973-74 when the radicals, under Dimitrios Ioannides who actually controlled the army, reacted to Papadopoulos intentions mentioned above and removed him in a new coup. The new regime interfered in Cyprus in the summer of 1974 , making a coup against greekcypriot president Makarios which triggered a Turkish invasion. The military junta then collapsed and transferred the power to the politicians.

We actually got freed with the blood of Cyprus...
