And this is exactly why You don't win silver, you lose gold is sometimes correct and sometimes it's not, entirely depending on the situation.

But then again, WC in speed skating is really not that important...

I can't believe that the Netherlands have more medals than Germany, what a horrible result for Germany again, same as 4 years ago.

I assume we can be sure that the Netherlands will sweep men's 1500 m tomorrow? If they do that, they could finish tomorrow with the same number of golds as Germany (assuming that Germany wins women's luge) if they win a gold in short track, so do they have a realistic chance for short track gold tomorrow?

I just saw that Schultzing was eliminated already in women's 500 m, which is very surprising, so is there anyone else who could win a medal for them?

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

I know, but I can very well imagine Takagi came here for one thing and one thing only, and that wasn't silver.

This guy will compete tomorrow. Surely it's the longest named Chinese athlete that ever appeared at the Olympics. :d

:yes

He is probably an Uyghur, they have those long names for Chinese standards. I remember few Chinese boxers that also had those long names.

I remember the same, but for speed skaters at the Universiade. Still, it's always something a little different than the usual names :p

Nice to see them in other sports than combat ones. :d

One Chinese of Uyghur origin is Menke Bateer. Do you remember him?
