Today we had the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico for the best brazilian athletes of 2017. The nominees were:

Mayra Aguiar (Judo)

Best Male Athlete

André Stein/Evandro Gonçalves (Beach Volleyball)

The winners were Mayra Aguiar and Marcelo Melo (the first award for the sport since Guga Kuerten in 2000). Caio Bonfim won "Atleta da Torcida" (popular vote).

Here is a complete list of the best brazilian athletes from each Olympic sport in 2017.

+1 for any country where a race walker wins an award by popular vote

    • no idea. I just repeated what I read  but I won't be surprised if they make a mistake like this. the officials here are usually terrible in reading the rules. if I remember correctly they sent an Ice hockey team to the Games back in 2017 but most of the players were ineligible to play per IIHF rules and they played some friendlies instead    btw there is a federation, but not an ISU member. Ice Skating (which has a very very limited activity here) was a part of Skating (roller sports) federation but now moved to Skiing federation which officially changed its name to Skiing and Winter Sports Federation.
