Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022 News

Amateurs. It's obvious IOC doesn't give a flying rat about Tibet. These protests were much stronger before 2008 SOG and obviously achieved absolutely nothing. World has moved on from the Tibet issue some time ago already. Nobody likes to fight a losing war for too long.

If Soberanis fails to qualify, then she will be removed from the list of candidates.

I'm assuming everyone who doesn't qualify will be removed from this list? Although probably not, since Fourcade is on there and definitely won't qualify :d

Slightly surprised to see Mourão going for it. She is part of the athletes' commission in both the Brazilian snow sports federation and the Brazilian cycling federation (president even, I believe), so at least she is familiar with these kind of things. I do hope the IOC athletes' commission does more than the Brazilian snow sports federation's one though, which I think met once or twice (online) in the past two or three years, one of which was simply to confirm the new members.

You can atill run if you are retired but competed at the last edition of the games.

Perhaps we should follow their example?
    • Well... If not qualifying for the World Cup for the third consecutive time isn't enough to bring about change in Italy, I can't imagine what will be.
    • Gravina is simply stupid and probably has some kind of hold over other important key figures in Italian football, since he was elected in 2024 with a majority of over 90% of the votes... I have a hard time imagining it any other way. Compared to him, even Carraro, Berlusconi and Moggi seem like nice and kind gentlemens   Some people believe that Calciopoli in 2006 began the decline of Italian football and that may be true. It only got worse from there, not counting a single accidental Euro 2021 win- something similar to Greece in 2004. In 2009 Roberto Baggio prepared a 900-page report on necessary reforms in Italian football, but the then-FIGC board tossed it into the trash bin. Now we see the consequences...
    • I thought our former football President was greedy, selfish, power hungry and delusional, but apparently he has an equal counterpart in Gravina. Some people just lack common decency.
    • Well, it's possible that Italians may be more bitter towards short track officials after the robbery they perpetrated against Sighel at the Olympics and therefore more willing to comment and criticize them, but it doesn't make the decision any less ridiculous.   Also, the fact we are Italians, and therefore used to the low standards of football refereeing, makes us especially qualified and trained to identify biased/crooked/incompetent judging
    • I think it was never in the history of our sport has there been anyone as brazen and stupid as Gravina. Before presidents would resign, or at least hide for a while, rather than go into a full-blow scandalous attitude with full larrogance and pride. I hope this idiot gets fired anyway, even if he doesn't resign.
