Concerning African continental quota places it is likely that South Africa will accept both quota as Mari Rabie and Henri Schoeman would both have qualified via the Olympic qualification rankings, therefore it would seem strange to reject the quota, only to be reallocated the same quota again!

The quota has been reallocated to Mariya Shorets of Russia, meaning Russia become the 8th nation with 3 athletes.
