So the teams for the two events are exactly the same? (I have no idea if that's common or not  )

Qualification is the same for both.

Yes, the exact same athletes are competing in Slopestyle and Big Air (for all countries, not just Canada). Qualification is based on the combined ranking of both events.

The last slopestyle/big air World Cup was cancelled and now it's certain: 17-year old Niek van der Velden has qualified  (Dutch standard was two top-12 results, which he got in Mönchengladbach (8th) and Beijing (12th)).
