Women's Football FIFA World Cup 2019

The level of competetiveness is unfortunately much lower than at the male World Cup. I think 24 teams are too many, should be 16 at most.

My favourite Volleyball position: LIBERO. You ask why? Look here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZyIOarNAONk

Vivianne Miedema, only 22 years old, has just scored her 59th goal for the Netherlands and is now tied for the position of all-time top goalscorer (with Manon Melis) :cheer:

Miedema with her second and it's 3-1. Dutch still commit too many defensive mistakes to have a real shot at the medal round IMO but maybe the offensive power carries them through?

Yeah, but they beat Norway in April too. However they've been absolutely toothless here. Canada wins 2-0. First time they score 2 goals in a single finals game since 2007.

I wouldn't be surprised much if Cameroon beats New Zealand too.

The issue is that a 16 team World Cup likely means Europe will be squeezed even more, the reduction would probably be 3 Europeans, 2 Asians and 1 Africa, South America and CONCACAF.

The level is going up, let's be honest North Korea will be back in four years once they became seeded in Asia again and I have no idea how Jamaica outqualified Mexico in first place? The big issue is CONMEBOL because Brazil is getting way too old and there's nobody coming through from that continent. Argentina seems to have improved but other than that it's pretty dire down there.

That's true, Thailand is only here because North Korea is still recovering from its aftermath from its suspension while Mexico (and even Costa Rica) is a lot better than Jamaica, but in qualification anything can happen. Africa is also a weak link, not sure why they got three spots while South America only has 2.5.

    • Some Lithuanian discus results from back home got another men over 60 with Armandas Miliauskas finishing with a new pb of 60.40[he's 24 so i'm not really cheering this a whole lot,but hey he's crossed that barrier now],of course Andrius Gudžius won the comp plenty of fouls as is usual for him early in the season and at home but a 65.77 is a solid opener for someone who had no ramona plans ,it's by a few cm better than what Ceh did at the european throwing cup and actually exactly what janssen threw to win there.
