This proves that was the worst idea in history make the Intercontinental Qualifying Tournament separate of World Qualifying Tournament.

FIVB still would have two possible excuses: 1) He wasnt really part of the team, because he didnt play. He didnt have any impact on the game. 2) Meldonium became illegal at the end of 2015.

As long it includes four wins, it might be enough (and it was the case for the women's tournament). I'd say 14 points is a safe enough bet though.

China is surprisingly good here. Unlike the women's tournament, I think we'll have to wait until the last day to know the last qualified team.

And It's quite possible the last place will be decided in the last day's match between China and Canada

Not quite :p We need Australia not to win the three points against Japan to be officialy qualified today.

 

Anyway, Poland, France and Iran are basically In  The last spot will be fought between China, Canada and the winner of the game between Japan and Australia.

Wow, congrats to the Chilean volley team... they easily defeated Tunisia 3-0... so maybe there will be surprises in the intercontinental tournament

      That was known from the start for  and will be planned for.   Sadly just the reality of sports in North America. Canada and the US are both huge, a flight from Vancouver to Halifax or from Seattle to Miami is north of five hours. Every sports league in North America has to deal with this kind of travel logistics on the regular, so none of this will seem particularly unusual to a North American player.
