Egypt used to have an OK team, I wonder why they gave up trying in this sport.

@thepharoah is there any specific reason for that ?

that's so weird situation , we have good youth and junior teams but we don't have 1st team despite the fact that there're many teams care about this sport and even they bring foreign players to the league , it's like our women's handball team we have youth and junior teams but don't have a 1st team you'll never see something like that anywhere in the world except Egypt

In fact, following my logic, all sports should have 200+ teams trying to be world champions. That only happens in football, volleyball, and table tennis

Congrats to :GRE

After all the talk about how this Hungarian team can win the gold... yeah, our team, our journalists and our fans needed this wakeup call.

Thank you @Vektor

That was a good win from us and great performance by our young goalkeeper Zerdevas. We were down 2-5 and I thought it would get ugly but luckily our team fought back. We have a lot of good players who play for top European clubs (including Olympiacos who won the Champions League for 2017-18 and second place 2019-20) but for some reason our national team always underachieves. Perhaps this is the year that we finally break through and win our first Olympic medal.

I doubt it though. I say that every time and we always have the inevitable choke in the quarterfinals so who knows, but definitely a good start for our boys.

Either Japan has greatly improved or we really suck right now.

Okay, everything is right in the world again (hopefully).

What an embarrassing choke from Greece. We led Italy 6-2 after the third period and the match ended in a draw 6-6.

Obviously still a good result but never should've drawn from that position...

Every :RSA match is so completely pointless for both teams involved. I really hope :RSA reevaluates their stance on the African quota OR they start actually improving their teams, because this is depressing to watch at an Olympic Games.

    • Despite total domination by the Norwegian men (and yes, it's exhausting and boring), the accomplishments this weekend of Emil Iversen and Einar Hedegart are worth highlighting, despite them being Norwegian.    Iversen was dropped by the Norwegian national team after the opener in Beitostølen 2 weeks ago and was not taken to Ruka. Instead, he won both the 10k and 20k Interval Classic starts in Gålå in the Norwegian Cup last week, which granted him a spot on the start line in Trondheim. He took full advantage of that opportunity and finished on the podium in the skiathlon, and finished just off the podium in today's 10k Interval Freestyle. This definitely puts his name in serious contention for a spot on the Olympic team, which looked incredibly doubtful just a few days ago.    Einar Hedegart, the 24-year-old biathlete who decided to challenge the stereotype that biathletes are inferior skiers to their cross-country counterparts, just won the 10k Interval Start against all of Norway's best in a de facto Olympic trial.    Yes, it's exhausting seeing nothing but Norwegian flags on the men's side, but there can be excitement just beneath the surface at times.
