Ice Hockey 2017 - 2018 Discussion Thread

Great news for our Balkans friends, From this season will start a new international project the IHL (International Hockey League). 10 Clubs from   and will play in this championship.

 

The half of them will be from Slovenia HK Slavija Ljubjana, HK ECE Celje, HK Triglav, HK MK Bled and HDK Maribor, 3 clubs from Croatia Medvescak Zagreb „B”, Mladost Zagreb and HK Zagreb, the last 2 spots are for Serbians Crvena Zvezda Beograd and HK Vojvodina Novi Sad.

 

The competition will start in September and every team will play 2 matches against each other (once at home and once away), the best 8 will qualify for the play-offs.

A mentionable interesting rule is also each club can have maximum 5 foreigners in their squads

btw do you know when the official tournaments schedule is planned to be unveiled ? I can not find any information about the date anywhere for a while now

Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Willie Desjardins named coach of men´s Canada team for the WOG 2018. Sean Burke will be the GM and Martin Brodeur will be also part of the staff.

Canada named their rosters for the 2 "pre-olympic" August test tournaments in Russia. Very likely the Olympic final roster will be composed from those players.
