Well, it's not like tennis/table tennis where doubles introduce a whole new level. This is two people jumping at the same time.

 

Besides, how often do you synchronizingly dive with someone in real life?

Just as often as I play tennis (on a table or not) together with someone against two other people in real life  

 

Doubles tennis is just two people playing tennis at the same side of the net against two other people. I mean, if you're gonna look at it like that...  

 

Synchronized diving definitely introduces a new level, more so than for example swimming 100 or 200 meters.

But tennis players have to play as a team in doubles, as in react to situations etc. Diving is just starting at the same time.

 

I like the synchro diving competitions, but only when same gender competes. Every other multiple person competition in diving is a joke, because diving is primarily an individual sport.
